Istanbul New Airport opens; aims to welcome 200 mn passengers annually

Turkish Airlines welcomes a new era of Turkish aviation with the opening of Istanbul New Airport. The world’s largest international hub will be home to Turkey’s national flag carrier and establish Istanbul’s place as the centre of the globe for aviation and travel. Upon final completion, the airport will welcome 200 million passengers per year. Coinciding with the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Turkey, the Istanbul New Airport was officially opened by Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President, Republic of Turkey. Passengers on the first Turkish Airlines flights to the new airport that was specially operated for the opening ceremony received souvenir tickets. Following the official opening of the new airport on October 29, 2018, Turkish Airlines is operating a limited number of domestic and international routes from there, while all operations and existing flight schedules will run as usual from Istanbul Atatürk Airport. Additional flights will be operated from Istanbul New Airport to Ankara, Antalya, Izmir, Azerbaijan (Baku), and TRNC (Ercan) until December 30. Pursuant to existing planning, on December 31, all operations will move from Istanbul Atatürk Airport, after which, all flights will operate from Istanbul New Airport. The mega project will be launched in four phases with the final phase set to be complete in 2028. The complex will boast of six runways, four terminals, and 233 aircraft parking positions, with a capacity to serve up to 200 million passengers a year with 500-plus check-in desks and 225,000 employees. Golfers land in Antalya for Turkish Airlines Open 2018

The sixth staging of the Turkish Airlines Open kicks off on Thursday 1 November at the Regnum Carya Golf and Spa Resort, Antalya. A host of the world’s finest players will compete at Regnum Carya Golf & Spa Resort, which hosts the tournament for a third straight year. Turkish Airlines first introduced the tournament in 2013. The world-renowned event, which is the third last of the season, has become a crucial week in the European Tour calendar. On the occasion of this year’ tournament start, a press conference was held in Antalya with the participations of Republic of Turkey Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, British golfer Justin Rose, Turkish Airlines SVP Corporate Communication, Seda Kalyoncu, and Turkish Golf Federation (TGF) President Ahmet Ağaoğlu. Turkish Airlines offers free layover for transit passengers in Istanbul

Turkish Airlines has now offered a free layover service to all international transit Turkish Airlines passengers who fly through Istanbul with a six to 24 hour layover.  The national flag-carrier offers the complementary touristanbul service including transfers, access to historical sights of interest as well as a sampling of Turkey’s famed cuisine.  Passengers can catch a glimpse of the varied history and cultural fusion which has made Istanbul such a vibrant and charming city. To enjoy the benefits of touristanbul, passengers must have an international transit flight through Istanbul with Turkish Airlines and layover of 6-24 hours. Turkish Airlines signs MoU with Airbus for A350

Turkish Airlines and Airbus have signed an MoU to acquire 20+5 optional A350-900 aircraft. The agreement was signed at the Élysée Palace, Paris, during Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s official visit to France with French President Emmanuel Macron. “With Turkish Airlines serving more destinations than any other airline around the world, we will be delighted to rely on our new A350 XWB to further develop our major international routes from Turkey.” said M. İlker Aycı, Chairman of the Board and the Executive Committee, Turkish Airlines. Aycı went on to say, “This agreement is set to play a key role in our growing business in the years to come as the increased business volume for the local Turkish supplier industry by Airbus will be a great gain for the sector.” The A350 XWB is an all new family of mid-size wide-body long-haul airliners shaping the future of air travel.
