Emirates Skywards gives makeover to its family programme, allows 100% pooling of miles

Emirates Skywards has revamped its family programme, offering to provide a richer, more rewarding programme called ‘My Family’. Family members can now pool up to 100 per cent of Skywards miles earned on Emirates flights, allowing them to redeem rewards faster than before. Each member can pool up to 100 per cent of their miles earned on Emirates flights and the nominated contribution of miles from each member can be adjusted at any time. Emirates Skywards has a global membership of 20 million and all members are eligible to join ‘My Family’. Each account can have up to 8 family members including a nominated Family Head. “We’re always working to enhance our offerings to ensure our members are given greater value, choice and flexibility at every touchpoint across the Emirates Skywards programme. The new enriched ‘My Family’ programme will provide our members with a better, more intuitive customer experience, allowing them to consolidate up to 100 per cent of Skywards Miles earned on Emirates to reap faster rewards as well as tailor the proposition to meet their travel needs,” said Nejib Ben Khedher, Senior Vice President, Emirates Skywards. The new Emirates Skywards ‘My Family’ programme complements the airline’s exceptional family offering both on board and on the ground. In flight, young travellers can look forward to special toys, activity packs, child-friendly meals and dedicated kids’ content on ice, Emirates’ award-winning inflight entertainment system. On the ground, Emirates provides a dedicated family check-in area and complimentary strollers in Dubai and priority boarding for families across all airports.

flydubai becomes first UAE-based airline to operate flights to Finland

Dubai-based carrier flydubai announced the launch of direct flights to Finland’s capital, Helsinki at the Arabian Travel Market (ATM). The daily service from Dubai International (DXB) to Helsinki-Vantaa Airport (HEL) will start from  October 11, 2018. flydubai becomes the first UAE national carrier  to operate direct flights to Finland and the first airline to offer a year-round service between Dubai and Helsinki. Hamad Obaidalla, Chief Commercial Officer of flydubai, said: “flydubai will be the first UAE national carrier to offer direct flights to the capital of Finland. We remain committed to opening up previously underserved markets and to providing more travel options to fly to Dubai and beyond.” Arabian Travel market is the largest travel exhibition in the Middle East. This year, flydubai is participating at ATM for eighth time, showcasing its new Business and Economy Class offering available onboard its Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft. Jeyhun Efendi, Senior Vice President Commercial Operations at flydubai, added: “Helsinki is the 10th destination we announced this year as we open up destinations for passengers from across our network. flydubai launches Dubai-Kraków direct

flydubai has launched its daily service to Kraków, becoming the first UAE carrier to offer direct flights from Dubai. The inaugural flight from Terminal 2, Dubai International, landed at John Paul II Kraków Airport on April 8, and was greeted by a water cannon salute. The flight was piloted by a Polish Captain and First Officer, and on board were Polish cabin crew members. The delegation was led by Jeyhun Efendi, Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations (UAE, Middle East, Europe & CIS), flydubai. HE Robert Rostek, the Polish Ambassador to the UAE and Thierry Aucoc, Senior Vice President, Commercial (Europe & Russian Federation) at Emirates, joined the delegation. On arrival in Kraków, the delegation was greeted by the UAE Ambassador to Poland, HE Dr. Yousif Eissa AlSabri; Radosław Włoszek, President of the Kraków Airport Board and Paweł Galiak, Aviation and Commercial Services Director at Kraków Airport. Speaking at the occasion, Efendi said, “As the first carrier to operate daily direct flights from Dubai to Kraków we are excited about the opportunities that this new route will provide for trade and tourism between the UAE and Poland. This route will be served by the newest aircraft in our fleet, the Boeing 737 MAX 8, which offers our passengers an exceptional travel experience. Jet to add capacity on Northeast route for summer

Continuing its focus on growing its domestic presence, Jet Airways will introduce 144 weekly flights in the first phase of its forthcoming summer schedule. The new schedule will feature a combination of non-stop services – several of them on unique routes being introduced for the first time in the industry, as well as direct, one-stop services between new city pairs in the airline’s existing pan India network. As part of the new schedule, Jet Airways will strengthen connectivity between the country’s capital and the North Eastern region via a bouquet of non-stop services including thrice-a-week flights to Aizawl and Jorhat and four times-a-week flights to Silchar from New Delhi. The airline also commences four times-a-week non-stop service to Imphal from Delhi. Raj Sivakumar, Senior Vice President, Network Planning and Revenue Management, Jet Airways, said, “The burgeoning demand for air travel pan-India is increasingly witnessing guests travelling to more than one destination, reinforcing our network carrier model. Emirates Skywards reaches 20 mn members

Emirates Skywards, a loyalty programme popular for its unique offerings has reached 20 million members. Those travelling from Dubai on Emirates flights during the week beginning March 4, 2018, can look forward to surprises at check-in, onboard and in the lounges for some of its longest-standing members. “The programme has evolved in the 17 years since its inception in line with changing travel and lifestyle habits. Emirates Skywards is focused on delivering ever more personalised experiences for its members. We provide a wide array of earn and redeem options across a number of categories – travel, retail and lifestyle and across geographies, leveraging more than 100 partners worldwide,” explains Dr Nejib Ben Khedher, Senior Vice President, Emirates Skywards. In an average month, Emirates Skywards welcomes 220,000 new members across the globe. ASEAN tourism ministers recognise successful MICE venues

Tourism Ministers from 10 ASEAN countries recently presented the certificate of ASEAN MICE Venue Standards (AMVS) to successful MICE venues from member countries namely Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam during the 37th ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF2018) held during January 22-26, 2018, in Chiang Mai. Supawan Teerarat, Senior Vice President, Strategic Business Development and Innovation, TCEB, said, “The AMVS programme has been developed as a result of the nationwide success of the Thailand MICE Venue Standard (TMVS) which initiated by TCEB.  TCEB has defined a strategic roadmap throughout the development course and has been working closely with the nine member countries, namely Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam. TCEB had organised five meetings to provide details and clarify the criteria of the AMVS standards for the member countries. At present, the AMVS cover three categories, namely (1) Meeting/Conference Venue or Room (2) Exhibition Venue, and (3) Event Venue. The standards include three key criteria namely 1. Physical Setting (32 indicators) 2. Technology (10 indicators) and 3. Service (13 indicators). Delhi to witness Adventure Sports Expo Asia from Jan 27-29

The first ever Adventure Sports Expo Asia is going to be held in New Delhi from January 27-29 at Four Points by Sheraton. Some 15000 visitors and sports enthusiasts are expected to attend the show. Suman Billa, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, informed that the government has declared 2018 as the Year of Adventure and the ministry is going all out to promote the country as an important hub for adventure tourism. Ajeet Bajaj, Senior Vice President, Adventure Tour Operators Association of India (ATOAI) and the Managing Director of Snow Leopard Adventures, said, “The mission behind the Expo is bringing together all stakeholders to make India an adventure powerhouse while keeping risk management, sustainability and responsible tourism at the forefront. ATOAI is the backbone as far this industry is concerned in India and our aim is to make India a global hub for adventure tourism. Internationally, the adventure sports industry is a $400 billion industry. According to industry estimates, the Indian inbound industry for adventure tourism in growing by 5-7 per cent annually and domestic tourism for this segment is on an upswing, growing by 20-25 per cent annually.” The expo will host many sessions addressing the various issues of the adventure sports industry with luminaries from across the globe. CWT seals multi-year distribution deal with Bristish Airways, Iberia Airlines

Carlson Wagonlit Travel (CWT) have announced a multi-year distribution agreement with British Airways (BA) and Iberia Airlines (IB). This partnership will enable CWT customers to avoid the airlines’ proposed surcharge on bookings created within participating global distribution systems (GDS) that agree to these terms with IAG. The agreement, effective  November 1, 2017, applies to CWT business travel and leisure clients.  Brian Mogler, Senior Vice President, Global Supplier Management, CWT, said, “While we believe GDSs provide the best technology platform available for CWT to enable best-in-market user experience and operating efficiency, we will continue to monitor and assess new technologies and capabilities.”

The next edition of ITB Asia, to be held from October 25–27, 2017 in Singapore, is expected to have a dedicated ‘Corporate Travel Day’ and ‘Hotel Day’, lined up with an exciting full day of conference programmes. The  other two editions of ITB Asia will take place in October 17–19, 2018, and October 16–18, 2019. Messe Berlin, the organisers of the event, have announced the extension of its partnership with the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) from 2017-2019.
