Indian M!CE outbound market to GCC set to surpass US$ 5bn by 2025

According to a report by ResearchAndMarkets.com titled ‘India Outbound Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (M!CE) Tourism to Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Countries – Market Trends and Opportunities to 2025’ released in December 2019, UAE is the top destination for Indian MICE tourists. Saudi Arabia and Bahrain accounted for more than 15 per cent of the share of the total outbound MICE spending by Indians in 2018. The India outbound MICE market to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries is set to surpass US$ 5 Billion by 2025. India to generate 2mn outbound MiCE tourists by 2020: Report

According to a report, the Indian sub-continent is reaping positive growth trends for the its Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) segment. The India Outbound Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions Tourism Market Report: Country Outlook, Analysis, Size, Share and Forecast 2018 – 2025 states that the country’s outbound tourism market is expected to exceed US$ 45 Billion by 2025, the report also showcased that India shall generate more than two million outbound MiCE tourists by 2020. Oman eases visa rules for Indians

Oman is granting non-sponsored tourist visa for the citizens of India, China and Russia who reside in or hold an entry visa to one of these countries – USA, Canada, Australia, UK and Schengen states – to enter the Sultanate of Oman. These revised terms and conditions were issued by the Omani authorities. The issued statement indicated that the visa shall be granted for a period of one month for a fee of OMR 20. The spouse and children of the visa holder would also be allowed to enter the Sultanate while accompanying them. Applicants must also have a return ticket and confirmed hotel reservation in order to be granted the visa. Salim Adi Al Mamari, Director General of Tourism Promotion, from the Ministry of Tourism in Oman, said, “With the revision in visa regulations, we are expecting that Indian arrivals across all segments will grow exponentially – especially leisure and visitors to conventions and exhibitions. We aim to expand our travel and tourism offerings and are certain that the revised policies will offer expediency and convenience to travellers and will encourage more impromptu trips to the Sultanate.” Lubaina Sheerazi, India Representative, Ministry of Tourism, Oman, said, “The outbound segment in India is on a rise with the Indian economy booming and increasingly better standards of living. Most Indians typically travel for three to five nights as they want to experience Muscat and beyond. We are certain that the recent change in policies will be favourable for the Indian travellers and Sultanate will see a positive growth in this upcoming festive and holiday season.”

Oman sets up Convention Bureau

Oman has a new Oman Convention Bureau by the Ministry of Tourism, Oman. Talking about the initiative, Salim Al Mamari, Director General of Tourism Promotion, Ministry of Tourism, Oman says, “Our  ‘Tourism Strategy’ for 2040 has MICE as a major pillar for the future to help us grow and enhance and industry. The objective of the bureau is to support to the international and local organisations in hosting their events and cater to their requirements. The main aim is to promote Oman as an ideal destination for the MICE tourism sector.”
