Delhi to get an iconic convention centre by Sept 2019

An iconic convention centre is coming up at Pragati Maidan, Delhi and will be ready by September, 2019. This was informed by Jayanta Das, General Manager, Trade development Cadre, ITPO. “ The convention centre is proposed to be a state-of-the-art, iconic building. It will be ready by September, 2019, and we have already received a booking for December, 2019.” The centre, which is 120 M wide x 185 M long and 32.4 M high, is spread across approx 50,000 sq meters. The convention centre aims to become a landmark building for the convention industry of India with best global facilities and features on a par with the latest modern convention centres in the world.

218-room Indore Marriott Hotel opens doors

Marriott International has added another property to its portfolio in Indore with the opening of the 218-room Indore Marriott Hotel. AccorHotels’ twin property opens in Chennai

AccorHotels has announced the opening of Novotel and ibis OMR Chennai. Being termed as the first combo property in Chennai, the hotel has the advantage of being strategically located in the centre of the IT Expressway (OMR). The 342 (combined) room property is AccorHotels’ first joint development in the city. Featuring midscale and economy brands under the same complex, the 153- room Novotel and 189-room ibis Chennai OMR gives travellers a choice of offerings across different price points. Air France celebrates 50th anniversary of Paris-Mumbai route

Air France celebrates 50 years of its operations on the Paris-Mumbai route ever since it added Mumbai to its historic Far East network by launching flights from Mumbai to Paris on September 7, 1967. The airline now operates a daily service between Paris-Charles de Gaulle and India’s economic capital by Boeing 777-200 equipped with the latest long-haul travel cabins. On this occasion of completing half a century, Max Smits, General Manager, Air France-KLM, Indian Sub-Continent said,  “We are proud to celebrate 50 years of service between Mumbai and Paris. 2nd Travel Wedding Show witnessed 2000 B2B meetings

The second edition of Travel Wedding Show concluded with over 2000 meetings conducted among 32 exhibitors and nearly 64 buyers from July 8-9, 2017, at Jaipur Marriott Hotel. Representatives from hotels and tourism boards exhibited their various products for wedding tourism. On day one of the show, travel agents and tour operators from across the country interacted with exhibitors while day two of the event saw the bigwigs of the wedding industry in India attend the show to meet and network with various exhibitors. Stalwarts of MICE, wedding tourism and hospitality industry like Hemant Mendiratta, Senior Vice President-Sales, The Oberoi Hotels; Saurabh Bhargava, AVP Sales-North, Taj Hotels Palace Resorts and Safaris; Hema Hariramani, Director, National Sales- India, Marriott International; Rajeev Jain, Vice President and Treasurer, EEMA and Vinod Bhandari, Partner, Wedding Xtraordinaire LLP, addressed various challenges faced by these industries in a panel discussion at the show. Indonesia AirAsia X introduces Mumbai-Bali direct flight

Indonesia AirAsia Extra has launched a direct flight from Mumbai to Bali (Denpasar) from May 19, 2017, with a 45-minute layover in Kuala Lumpur. It will operate this route using A330-300 with 377 seats (12 flatbeds and 365 economy seats). The flight departs from Mumbai at 22.50 hours and arrives in Bali at 10.45 hours the next day. Indonesia AirAsia Extra is the 4th airline under the AirAsia Group to operate to Indian destinations. Suresh Nair, General Manager, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal, AirAsia, said, “We will have daily flights from Mumbai making seven flights a week. We expect good number of people to travel from India to Indonesia and vice versa. We started the flights with an introductory fare of Rs. 2,552 (plus taxes) which was well received by everyone. We continue to offer low fares on all sectors. Currently we are offering a return fare of Rs 14,999 and we continue to strive to keep the fares as low as possible.”
