Ethiopian Airlines to increase capacity in India operation

Ethiopian Airlines has announced that effective March 25 and until October 26, 2018, it will increase capacity in its India operation by deploying the ultra-modern B777 aircraft on its twice daily operation to/from Mumbai and 767-200 aircraft on its twice daily operation to/from New Delhi. Both the B777 and 767-200 aircrafts will have flat beds in business class. Regional Director India Sub Continent, Ethiopian Airlines, Tadesse Tilahun, remarked, “As part of our strategy to expand in India, we have been increasing frequency and upgrading aircraft in the past few years to accommodate the growing demand to Africa. As a customer focused airline, we have the passenger’s comfort level in mind at all times with a view to continuously enhance our customers‘ travel experience and meet their growing expectations.” With the availability of additional seats on this leg, Ethiopian airlines have introduced heavily discounted fares to Nairobi, Uganda, Tel Aviv, Tanzania, Rwanda, Khartoum, Entebbe, USA, Europe and several other destinations. With the holiday season just around the corner, travellers can take advantage of these most competitive fares. Tilahun added “India is a very strategic market for Ethiopian Airlines and we are on the final stage of preparation to launch one more entry point to South India. With our 47 years of service to India, the Ethiopian Airlines has played significant role in bringing India and Africa together in general and India and Ethiopia, in particular.”

Ethiopian Airlines and SKYTRAX certified Four Star Global Airline has launched a brand new mobile application, which encompasses mobile features to enhance customers’ travel experience with simplified options for flight booking and management. Tewolde GebreMariam, Group CEO, Ethiopian Airlines, remarks, “In the age of “the internet of things” and Artificial Intelligence, I am happy that our ‘mobility’ project is fast advancing which enabled us to announce to our esteemed customers that Ethiopian Mobile Application has gone live. The application is a critical piece of our overall strategy to bring our customers’ travel experience to another level by leveraging on information and communication technology. Ethiopian Airlines symposium on aviation training from April 11-13

Ethiopian Airlines has announced that it will host the ICAO Global Aviation Training and TRAINAIR PLUS Symposium with the theme: “Together, Enhancing Training to Build Capacity” at the seat of the African Union, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from April 11-13, 2017. Tewolde GebreMariam, Group CEO Ethiopian Airlines, said: “I believe this symposium will also be an opportunity for us to showcase our hospitality, the state-of-the-art aviation training facilities at our Aviation Academy and the key role Ethiopian is playing in the development of the African Aviation industry.” An estimated 400-500 expected participants will be taking part in the symposium, including the ICAO council President and the Secretary General, transport ministers, ambassadors, civil aviation and airport authorities, civil aviation officials, aircraft manufacturers, airline and airport operators, industry policy makers, and tourism experts.

Ethiopian Airlines to expand India operations through Chennai

Ethiopian Airlines has announced that it will expand its India operations further by adding Chennai to its network. Esayas Woldemariam Hailu, Managing Director (International Services), Ethiopian Airlines, said, “We are considering adding Chennai to our network in India soon. This will be thrice weekly and upscale it to daily as the route develops.” Ethiopian Airlines made its debut flight to Mumbai in December 1971 and has since increased its airlift to 28 scheduled weekly flights to Mumbai and New Delhi. The airline also celebrated its 70th anniversary of the corporate airline as well as 45 years of service to Mumbai. Speaking about the celebrations lined up for this, Hailu added, “On this occasion, we are offering a 70 per cent and 45 per cent discount in our Business Class and Economy Class fares, respectively for a week till February 10 but valid for travel for the rest of the year for travel originating from India.”

Africa’s largest airline group, Ethiopian Airlines, shall resume services to Conakry on February 1, 2017. Conakry is the capital of The Republic of Guinea and a port city on the Atlantic Ocean serving as the country’s economic, financial and cultural centre. Guinea is a major producer of bauxite and has rich deposits of diamonds and gold. Group CEO of Ethiopian Airlines, Tewolde GebreMariam said, “Charting a route that joins Africa, East to West and North to South, Ethiopian is greatly contributing to the economic, tourism, and trade development of the African continent. Conakry will be our 54th African and 96th international destination.”  With Ethiopian’s entry into the Conakry market, passengers will also be able to connect to major cities in Asia, the Middle East and East and Southern Africa via Ethiopian’s hub at Addis Ababa, including Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Beirut, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Seoul, Bangkok, Dubai, Mumbai, Johannesburg and Nairobi.
