roomit

RoomIt by CWT, the hotel distribution division of Carlson Wagonlit Travel, have announced the RoomIt Loyalty Booster programme. Available free to all RoomIt customers, the programme rewards travellers with additional points and miles, while also increasing hotel attachment rates and compliance with their company’s travel policy. “Instead of penalising travellers for being non-compliant, we are taking a different approach that is more proactive and much more powerful,” said David Falter, President, RoomIt by CWT. “We have run several campaigns and the success rates have been very good and our clients are extremely happy with the higher compliance rates.” The programme allows travel managers to partner with CWT to run promotional campaigns where travellers are incentivised with either points or miles for booking within their corporate travel program. In testing mode with several clients, the RoomIt Loyalty Booster programme delivered a 12 per cent higher compliance rate during campaigns (typically 60-to-90 days in length). Additionally, the program often achieved continued compliance with compliant bookings increasing three percent after campaigns concluded. “Business travellers want to feel empowered when they are booking their travel,” added Falter. “We are giving the ability to feel like they are getting something out of the experience other than just having to travel for work. They now see an opportunity where they can get to their next vacation by accumulating points much faster than before.”

Business travel safer today than in the past: CWT survey

business-travel

The reason to worry while travelling will always be there, but with changing times, business travel scenario too, has evolved. A recently conducted research by Carlson Wagonlit Travel found that while more than one-third (37 per cent) of European travellers are concerned about safety and security, their counterparts from other regions worry more. Travellers from the Americas say that they worry about safety and security nearly half of the time (47 per cent), while Asia Pacific travellers worry the most (56 per cent). “Despite recent terrorist attacks, business travelers say they’re more worried about other things – and that’s surprising,” said Simon Nowroz, Chief Marketing Officer, Carlson Wagonlit Travel. “We found that, yes, the world seems scarier at times – but travellers believe they have more tools at their disposal to keep them informed and safe.” Components like terrorism only ranks fifth (35 per cent) among safety concerns, despite the high visibility of terrorist attacks. Others like ‘forgetting something needed for work’ was ranked higher (40 per cent), as did ‘losing something important’ at 38 per cent, ‘being robbed or attacked’ saw 37 per cent and ‘weather conditions’ was at 37 per cent. The CWT Connected Traveller survey of more than 1,900 individuals found that two-thirds (67 per cent) of business travellers believe travel is safer today than in the past, as they have more tools to mitigate safety concerns. Seven out of ten travellers use at least one of their employer’s security protocols, such as traveller tracking or emergency contact profiles. And more than two-thirds (68 per cent) buy travel insurance. The study did reveal several findings of concern. For example, one in five travellers have cancelled a trip due …

CWT-For-You-logo-e1493190495673

Carlson Wagonlit Travel has launched a business travel solution specially designed for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in India called ‘CWT For You’. Geeta Jain, CEO-India, Carlson Wagonlit Travel, says, “Indian SMEs and start-ups have seen tremendous growth in recent years, with many expanding nationwide and some even venturing into international markets,” said. “Yet most of these companies have very little control over what they spend on business travel – a significant chunk of their total spend.” With no minimum spend threshold or applicable transaction fees, this new service is available through a web-based registration and is focused on giving these growing businesses access to some of the benefits of managed travel that larger corporations enjoy. It is estimated that India has close to 50 million SMEs, accounting for nearly 40 per cent of the gross domestic product. Aimed at companies without a managed travel program, ‘CWT For You’ is available both as a mobile app and an online booking tool (OBT), providing SMEs with a highly user-friendly, intuitive and cost-effective self-servicing solution for their business travel needs. “CWT For You offers SMEs a cost-effective business travel solution by including the essential components of managed travel, without certain added services required by organisations with global travel programs or high travel volumes. This has allowed us to give these growing businesses unprecedented access to our global negotiating and buying power along with our award winning products and services,” said Jain. The solution will give SMEs access to CWT’s specially negotiated airfares and hotel rates, as well as added benefits like in-flight meals, preferred seat selection, flight changes and cancellations at no extra charge on various low-cost carriers.
