Istanbul New Airport opens; aims to welcome 200 mn passengers annually

Turkish Airlines welcomes a new era of Turkish aviation with the opening of Istanbul New Airport. The world’s largest international hub will be home to Turkey’s national flag carrier and establish Istanbul’s place as the centre of the globe for aviation and travel. Upon final completion, the airport will welcome 200 million passengers per year. Coinciding with the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Turkey, the Istanbul New Airport was officially opened by Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President, Republic of Turkey. Passengers on the first Turkish Airlines flights to the new airport that was specially operated for the opening ceremony received souvenir tickets. Following the official opening of the new airport on October 29, 2018, Turkish Airlines is operating a limited number of domestic and international routes from there, while all operations and existing flight schedules will run as usual from Istanbul Atatürk Airport. Additional flights will be operated from Istanbul New Airport to Ankara, Antalya, Izmir, Azerbaijan (Baku), and TRNC (Ercan) until December 30. Pursuant to existing planning, on December 31, all operations will move from Istanbul Atatürk Airport, after which, all flights will operate from Istanbul New Airport. The mega project will be launched in four phases with the final phase set to be complete in 2028. The complex will boast of six runways, four terminals, and 233 aircraft parking positions, with a capacity to serve up to 200 million passengers a year with 500-plus check-in desks and 225,000 employees. Golfers land in Antalya for Turkish Airlines Open 2018

The sixth staging of the Turkish Airlines Open kicks off on Thursday 1 November at the Regnum Carya Golf and Spa Resort, Antalya. A host of the world’s finest players will compete at Regnum Carya Golf & Spa Resort, which hosts the tournament for a third straight year. Turkish Airlines first introduced the tournament in 2013. The world-renowned event, which is the third last of the season, has become a crucial week in the European Tour calendar. On the occasion of this year’ tournament start, a press conference was held in Antalya with the participations of Republic of Turkey Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, British golfer Justin Rose, Turkish Airlines SVP Corporate Communication, Seda Kalyoncu, and Turkish Golf Federation (TGF) President Ahmet Ağaoğlu. 120 Indians participate in IMWF, Turkey

International MICE & Wedding Forum to begin from May 28-June 1 in Antalya, Turkey

The third edition of the International MICE & Wedding Forum (IMWF) is set to kick off from May 28 – June 1 in Antalya, Turkey, at the Titanic Deluxe Golf Belek Hotel. The biggest players in the fields of MICE and Wedding planners will meet with over 450 agencies from 70 different countries, as well as with industry suppliers and managers from over 150 hotels and airlines. Sabbas Joseph, Director of Wizcraft International Entertainment, will be honorary guest and keynote speaker at the IMFW. TAFI convention to be held in two destinations in Turkey

In a first for any travel trade association, the Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI) will conduct its annual convention in two different places in Turkey this year. One part of the convention will be held in Dalaman and the other one in Antalya. The convention, which is to be held from Oct 27-31, 2017, has been split between two destinations so as to enhance the members’ experience of Turkey.

EEMA collaborates with Inventum Global

The Event and Entertainment Management Association (EEMA) has tied-up with Turkey’s largest MICE operator, Inventum Global, for hosting Indian events in Antalya, Turkey. The agreement is aimed at conducting Indian outbound events, weddings, corporate meetings and exhibitions, among others in Antalya. The Turkish Ambassador Sakir Ozkan Torunlar, said: “Antalya is one of the world’s most popular destinations for MICE projects and India is the perfect partner to work with to build sustainable tourism.” On the occasion, it was also announced that the inaugural EEMA Global Leadership Retreat would be held from May 28 to June 1 in the picturesque Antalya. EEMA President, Sabbas Joseph said, “EEMA and Inventum have been working together for a while and following the success of previous initiatives, EEMA and Inventum are hosting the first global leadership retreat of India’s fast-growing event industry with a view to building a long-term partnership to promote Turkey for India’s outbound events, weddings, corporate meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions.”
