ICPB to organise international roadshows

Elaborating on their promotional plans this year, Amaresh Tiwari, Vice Chairman, ICPB said, “This year we are planning our roadshows just before IMEX and then we will be participating there. We will be taking the roadshows to London, Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam and coming back to Frankfurt. We are also planning four domestic roadshows, the details for the same will be made available soon.

Elaborating on his agenda, Amaresh Tiwari, Vice Chairman, ICPB said, “We need to target top five destinations in India and create world class venues and bring them in the top 100 destinations in the world for M!CE, as of now only Delhi is mentioned with 43rd rank. We need to have a global bidding fund, so we need get the government of India to create a global bidding fund for international conferences, do the lobbing and make India as a fine global MICE destination. At ICPB, we need to have a single point contact for all the NOC permissions. Create an internal bidding system, to help the members, associations to bid for the country.” He further added, “ We need to liaison with the Ministry of Tourism. We need to create a sub brand within Incredible India 2.0 for M!CE like Incredible Meetings or Incredible M!CE and focus on the same. We are creating chapters and involving states as stakeholders. We need to reach out to all the M!CE specific trade shows, attend the same and promote India.”

Goa promotes itself as a MiCE destination

Keeping in focus to highlight the state of Goa as a suited MiCE destination, the Regional Office Maharashtra of India Convention Promotion Bureau (ICPB), in collaboration with Goa Tourism recently organised an interactive seminar. The discussion covered various topics like; Incentive and Initiative by State Govt. to promote Goa as a MiCE destination; Role of Tourism Ministry, Govt. of India in promotion of MiCE in Goa. Executive Director ICPB presented the Role Bureaus can play in re-positioning Goa as a MiCE destination. The highlight of the seminar was the panel discussion – ‘Marketing Hotels – Key Segment for MiCE in Goa’. The fruitful interaction included panelists from various MiCE segments, like incentives, exhibitions and convention and meeting, who discussed the power of incentives, challenges for holding large conferences and meeting design. The panel was represented by Amaresh Tiwari, Sanjay Soni and Amit Saroj from ICPB and Gaurav Apte from Marriott Goa. The outcome of the deliberation was the strategies of attracting business event, different from the leisure market. The session was moderated by Chander Mansharamani, Vice Chairman – ICPB. Chander Mansharamani to continue as Vice Chairman, ICPB

Chander Mansharamani has been re-elected as Vice Chairman of India Convention Promotion Bureau (ICPB) for another two-year term. Amaresh Tiwari and Girish Kwatra will also continue on their respective posts of Hon. Secretary and Hon. Treasurer. This was declared during the association’s 30th Annual General Meeting and Elections for the Governing Board held at The Ashok in New Delhi, which was also attended by Suman Billa, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India and Chairman, ICPB. New appointments were made in the Hotel, Tour Operator and Congress / Convention Centres categories. The two new appointments in the hotel category were Hemant Mediratta and Saurabh Bhargava & Abinash Manghani (due to a tie for the second post). Gunjan Suri and Naveen Chibber took up the two new posts in the travel agency category while Ajay Vinayak and Anuj Wadhwa took the two posts in tour operator category. The post for the Congress / Convention Centres went to Sudeep Sarcar. Talking about the key priorities for the bureau now, Mansharamani, Vice Chairman, ICPB, said, “The government has been looking at us as the frontal organisation for marketing India as a convention destination. Keeping that in mind, we are completely invested to take things to the next level. Currently, we have outlined three core areas to focus on; first is market creation wherein creating our chapters and bidding of international conferences will be a part of that. Market creation will involve conducting roadshows both in India and international markets.
