Great Indian Travel Bazaar in Jaipur from April 22-24

The 10th edition of the Great Indian Travel Bazaar (GITB), which emerged as one of the most important travel marts for inbound tourism, will be held in Jaipur from April 22 to 24, 2018. While the inaugural session will be held at Hotel Lalit on April 22, the pre-structured meetings and exhibition will be held on April 23 and 24 at the Jaipur Exhibition and Convention Center (JECC) in Sitapura, informed Dr Subodh Agarwal, Additional Chief Secretary, Tourism, Art & Culture, Government of Rajasthan. Dr Agarwal said, while Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje will grace the inaugural session as Chief Guest, Union Tourism Minister KJ Alphons will inaugurate the exhibition on April 23. The two-day event will see fruitful networking giving a further boost to the travel trade business in the State, he added. FICCI Past President and Chairperson FICCI Tourism Committee, Dr Jyotsana Suri said that in a span of 10 years, GITB has gone from strength to strength and was now a force to reckon with in the inbound tourism marts.

Rajasthan Tourism announces domestic travel mart from July 20-22 in Jaipur

The Department of Tourism, Government of Rajasthan has signed an MoU with the Federation of Hospitality and Tourism of Rajasthan (FHTR) for organising the ‘Rajasthan Domestic Travel Mart’ 2018. The event will be held from July 20-22 at the B.M. Birla Auditorium in Jaipur. The Department of Tourism will be the host state partner for the event. The MoU was signed between the Additional Director Tourism, Sanjay Pande and the President, FHTR, Bhim Singh in Jaipur. The Chief Guest on the occasion Chief Secretary, Rajasthan, Nihal Chand Goel said that the primary objective of ‘Rajasthan Domestic Travel Mart’ is to exclusively focus on the domestic tourists within Rajasthan from various parts of India. “The vision 2020 initiated by the CM had an objective of five crore tourist footfall in the state by the year 2020. But we have attained close to five crore tourists in the year 2017 itself and with new initiatives like this travel Mart, we’d be able to achieve the set goal and probably outperform our own predicted numbers,” he said. The President, FHTR, Bhim Singh said the sole objective is to increase tourism is Rajasthan by organising numerous roadshows across the country. The event is also supported by HRAR, IHHA, RATO and ADTOI.

Marriott group recently held MCUBE – (Marriott Meetings Matter), an initiative taken by the Marriott India Leadership team, at JW Marriott Jaipur Resort & Spa, from April 13-15, 2018. The event brought  together the largest corporate and professional conference organisers under one roof. Sanjay Sharma, Market Vice President for North India, Nepal and Bhutan, Marriott International, shared some insights on the viability of MiCE in India and why bringing events to cities help elevate local economy as well. “ MCUBE has been historical every year and Marriott has been doing this for a number of years. African tourism and MiCE industry to hold masterclass in Johannesburg

The Southern African Association for the Conference Industry (SAACI) and the Society for Incentive Travel Excellence (SITE) have joined forces with Africa Tourism Partners (ATP) and Grant Thornton to host a capacity-building Business Tourism and MICE Masterclass course in Johannesburg from June 13 to 15, 2018. The masterclass aims to upskill African business tourism and MiCE professionals, practitioners, entrepreneurs, and the youth. “Each African country is a unique Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions and Events destination. ICPB to promote India as venue for conferences and exhibitions: K. J. Alphons

The Ministry of Tourism has recognised Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions (MICE) as a niche tourism product in order to overcome the problem of seasonality and to promote India as a 365 days’ destination. The India Convention Promotion Bureau (ICPB) has been set up under the patronage of the Ministry of Tourism to promote India as a venue for International Conferences and Exhibitions. This non-profit organization, with members comprising national airlines, hotels, travel agents, tour operators, tourist transport operators, conference organizers, etc. participate in international MICE trade fairs like IMEX in Frankfurt and Las Vegas, EIBTM- Barcelona and AIME- Melbourne along with the India Tourism overseas offices. India is also being promoted as a preferred MICE destination through the Global Incredible India media campaign and through road shows and seminars conducted by the India Tourism offices overseas. Ministry of Tourism also provides Central Financial Assistance to the State Governments/UT Administrations for development of tourism infrastructure including the setting up of convention centres under the existing schemes. This information was given by K. J. Alphons, Union Minister of State (I/C) for Tourism in a written reply in Rajya Sabha.
