ITC Kohenur opens in Hyderabad with nine meeting spaces

ITC Hotels has announced the addition of ITC Kohenur in Hyderabad as the 12th hotel to join its luxury hotel portfolio, from June 1, 2018. MOT’s Global Travel Mart in Sep, 2018

Ministry of tourism is set to organise its Global Travel Mart from September 18-20, 2018 in association with Federation of Associations of Indian Travel and Hospitality (FAITH). Rashmi Verma, Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, said, “We are taking a number of new initiatives. For a long time, it was the demand of the industry that we should also have a Global Travel Mart in our country on the lines of WTM and ITB, and this year we have finalised the mart in partnership with the industry. MOT will be organising this Global Travel Mart from September 18-20 in Delhi and we will be getting participants from all over the world and about 200-250 foreign delegates and media will be participating in it. The entire travel trade industry will be partners in this and their apex organisation FAITH will be doing it with us in partnership. This new initiative would give opportunity to the entire travel trade and will give a lot of fillip to the tourist traffic to India.

120 Indians participate in IMWF, Turkey

300 attendees from over 55 countries are attending the International MICE & Wedding Forum taking place in Antalya, Turkey from May 28-June 1. India is represented by a strong contingent of 120 participants. This is the 3rd edition of  the event and is taking place at the  Titanic Deluxe Golf Belek, Antalya, Turkey.  Speaking at the event, Necip Fuat Ersoy, MD, IMWF said, “I am honoured, proud and so happy to see you all here. International Buddhist Conclave from Aug 26-28: MOT

The Ministry of Tourism is increasingly focusing on promoting Buddhist tourism, for which not only are they working on promotion, but also infrastructure development. MOT recently concluded a roadshow to a few ASEAN countries, and is all set to organise the International Buddhist Conclave in August. Rashmi Verma, Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, said, “Buddhist Tourism is our priority area and in line with the same, we just concluded a roadshow in four countries–Myanmar, Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand. We saw a lot of interest in people from these countries for coming to India and visiting these sites. We are also organising the International Budddhist Conclave from August 26-28, in which we will have business meetings and will also be inviting prominent monks from these countries. The inauguration will be held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi, and then by charter flights we will take all the delegates to Ajanta and Ellora caves. This is the first time we will be showcasing other sites related to Buddhism. From there, we will be take them to Bodhgaya and Sarnath. With this, we are hopeful that after this, the delegates would be able to see the improved infrastructure at these sites, which will encourage them to make visits to our country.”

ICPB’s 11th CIC to be held in Kolkata from August 29-31

India Convention Promotion Bureau (ICPB) has announced the dates for its 11th Conventions India Conclave (CIC) 2018. The convention will be held at Biswa Bangla Convention Centre, Kolkata, from August 29-31, 2018. Some 300 participants are expected to attend the Conclave including 150 domestic and 40 international potential buyers. The sole focus of the event will be on India’s potential as a MiCE destination, through interactive sessions, exhibition, and B2B meetings

The third edition of the International MICE & Wedding Forum (IMWF) is set to kick off from May 28 – June 1 in Antalya, Turkey, at the Titanic Deluxe Golf Belek Hotel. The biggest players in the fields of MICE and Wedding planners will meet with over 450 agencies from 70 different countries, as well as with industry suppliers and managers from over 150 hotels and airlines. Sabbas Joseph, Director of Wizcraft International Entertainment, will be honorary guest and keynote speaker at the IMFW. Delegates from 80 countries attend Africa’s Travel Indaba at Durban ICC

More than 6000 representatives from 80 countries around the world converged at Durban’s ICC to attend the biggest travel trade show in Africa, Travel Indaba, which is underway until May 10, 2018. “It’s fair to say that good business concluded at this show can translate into measurable economic growth for the entire continent,” says Sisa Ntshona, CEO, South African Tourism. According to the organisers, the online meetings confirmed for the show between buyers and exhibitors had already exceeded the 2017 numbers two weeks before the opening. In total, more than 1060 exhibitors will be doing business from 22 African countries. “Over 1460 buyers from 69 countries are attending the show. Having the right buyers in front of the right products will take African tourism growth to the next level,” says Ntshona
