Thailand MICE to generate US$ 4 billion by 2022

Thailand as a MICE destination is poised to attract more than 1.3 million MICE travellers and generate about US$ 4 billion revenue by 2022. The country is a suited destination for MICE due to its solid basic infrastructure, strategic location, developed transportation systems, international connectivity, a well-trained private sector, continual government support and sound regulations.  Thailand’s meeting industry market share was around 75 per cent for the year 2015 and is expected to continue its dominance till 2022.

Sabre ‘SafePoint’ for business travellers

Sabre Corporation has launched a new mobile care solution tool called SafePoint  to help business travellers monitor business trips in a hassle-free manner. The announcement was made at the GBTA Convention 2016. Sabre selected iJET International as the exclusive provider of travel and security intelligence to SafePoint . The traveller during his trips will be automatically notified via the TripCase mobile app, through SMS, and email on the details about the destination.

e-visas for MICE delegates likely: Mahesh Sharma

In an effort to bring India on a par with the US, Germany, Spain, the UK and France, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is likely to approve e-visas for the MICE (Meetings Incentives, Conferences Exhibition) segment soon. Tourism and Culture Minister, Dr Mahesh Sharma said, “We have made a proposal to allow e-visa for the corporates from the world over, who want to hold short-term meets and conferences in India, for just the duration of the conference. The segment is a big revenue-generator since most of these people club business with sight-seeing and shopping. We are likely to get a nod soon.”

India, fastest growing travel business market

The Indian travel business market will spur growth and become the sixth largest business travel market in the world by the end of 2019, states a report by the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) Foundation, in its latest GBTA BTI™ Outlook–India report. “If it continues on its current path, India is poised to be a world leader in business travel for decades to come,” said Gaurav Sundaram, GBTA India Regional Director. The GBTA Foundation report forecasts 10.7 per cent growth in business travel spending in 2016, followed by another 10.2 per cent in 2017 reaching US $36.1 billion.
