Tamarind to unveil wedding division in Delhi

Tamarind Global will open a wedding division at its Delhi office. After the exponential growth of its weddings and events division of Tamarind Global in Mumbai, the company aims to tap the flourishing wedding business in Delhi-NCR. Tamarind Global’s Delhi office already offers event management and MiCE services. The division will be led by Karan Malhotra, Head – Events and Weddings, Tamarind Global. Kunal Rai, VP, Events and Weddings, Tamarind Global, said, “Delhi-NCR is prominent for the size and scale of its thriving wedding and events business, making the move of securing a strong presence in the region an inevitable progression. A team of 10 people has already successfully executed one wedding. This fully fledged team is geared to provide hospitality and logistics services as well as client servicing support for turnkey wedding and event solutions for Delhi and other North markets. The aim is to increase the team size to handle multiple weddings, and pitch for new weddings in the region.”

Airtrade Holland BV joins hands with Travelport

Travelport has announced a new multi-year technology and content agreement with Airtrade Holland BV, the Dutch leader in travel technology. Under the new agreement, Airtrade will utilise Travelport’s open platform and Universal API technology to deliver its customers informed content in real-time from over 400 airlines, 650,000 hotel properties and 35,000 car rental locations. With 250 airlines signed up to use Travelport’s unique merchandising technology, Airtrade will also be able to display, gain powerful information around, and sell branded fare families and ancillary products (such as paid seat assignments, baggage fees, priority boarding, etc.) from these airlines. Thomas Cook India unveils two forex outlets at Varanasi airport

Thomas Cook (India) has opened two new counters at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport, Varanasi. The outlets were inaugurated by Anil Kumar Rai, Airport Director in the presence of Shouvik Chatterjee and Amit Gupta, Associate Vice Presidents of Thomas Cook India’s Foreign Exchange business. The two new airport counters extend Thomas Cook India’s Foreign Exchange distribution and reach for Uttar Pradesh to a total of 12 consumer access centres – seven owned branches and five Gold Circle Partner (franchise) outlets. Deepesh Varma, Senior Vice President & Head—Sales & Relationship Management Foreign Exchange, Thomas Cook (India), said, “At Thomas Cook India, we have identified Varanasi as a powerful source market given strong growth continuum of 17 per cent YoY for our Foreign Exchange business. Corporate travel management platform Tripeur raises $600,000 pre-series A funding

Shorebird Technologies, the makers of Tripeur, the third generation, end-to-end Corporate Travel Management platform, co-founded by Thiagarajan Rajagopalan and Sajit Chacko raises $600,000 in the pre-series A round of funding, led by Japan-based Incubate Fund. Tripeur is an end-to-end corporate travel management platform that uses advanced Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning algorithms to drive efficiency, ease of use and customization for business travel by employees and executives alike. The funds that were raised in the seed round were used to prove Tripeur’s platform capabilities and adoption by the market. The pre-series A fund will be used primarily for building the technology, sales and marketing teams of the company. To grow the business, the company has brought on board Manish Raj, a former senior executive from Via.com as Co-Founder and Chief Business Officer. The transaction volume on the Tripeur platform doubled in February as compared to January 2018. MiCE industry to be valued $1245 bn in 2023: Study

The meetings and events industry is projected to reach $1245 billion in 2023, registering a CAGR of 7.5 per cent growth from 2017 to 2023, states a new report published by Allied Market Research, titled, ‘MiCE Industry by Event Type: Global Opportunity Analysis and Industry Forecast, 2017-2023’. According to the report,  the global MiCE industry was valued at $752 billion in 2016. This growth is seen to emerge from rapid globalisation and expansion of service industries, and evolution of scientific and technological innovations. The meetings segment dominated the global MiCE industry in 2016, due to the growth of the travel and tourism industry, increase in international business travels, and rise in government initiatives for the development of MICE segment & SME sector. Recent trends of organising hybrid meetings, and use of social media and meeting apps are  expected to the boost market growth in the near future. Asia-Pacific is expected to witness the highest growth rate of 8.6 per cent during the forecast period. This region is significantly driven by emerging countries such as Singapore, China, and India. Moreover, ease of visa restrictions, investments in better infrastructure, and high demand in commercial aviation further fuel the growth of the Asia-Pacific MiCE industry. The report also stated that in 2016, Europe dominated the global market with more than 42 per cent market share, in terms of value.
