Broadcast India Show 2017 expects biggest attendance yet


The 27th edition of the annual B2B Broadcast India Show (BIS) will be held from October 12-14, 2017, at Bombay Convention and Exhibition Centre, Goregaon, Mumbai. From content creation to its management and delivery, BIS 2017 presents an entire gamut of products and solutions catering to the entire scale of the broadcast and film industry. Organised by NürnbergMesse India, the expo is showcasing over 600 brands displaying cutting edge technology and solutions. Along with the broad-spectrum event, BIS 2017 will simultaneously facilitate a two-day conference that dives right into the nitty-gritty of content. India’s strongest-ever participation at IFTM Top Resa 2017

India’s participation grew manifolds at IFTM Top Resa MAP Pro, France’s only multi-sector travel and tourism trade show. Indian states, such as, Kerala, Rajasthan, Karnataka and Goa received an overwhelming response from this market. India Tourism and the private sector created a buzz and saw great potential at the event held from September 25-28. The four-day event was attended by 30,929 industry professionals, demonstrating the vitality and energy that characterise the travel and tourism industry. As many as 1,694 brands were spread across 543 stands.

Malaysia to avail largest MICE venue


Malaysia is all set to house South-East Asia’s largest meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) venue through Malaysia Exposition and Convention Centre (MyExpo) and existing Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) by 2021. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said the convention centre with  a total gross floor area of 1.5 million sq ft would be the largest exhibition centre in Malaysia on completion in 2020. MyExpo, which features unique design and can accommodate 60,000 people at a time, had projected a total annual revenue of RM500mil, he said. MyExpo is the first phase development of the MyExpo City at the Diplomatic and Integrated Mixed Development enclave.  The new site of MyExpo City is located adjacent to PICC and the project is expected to complement PICC that caters mainly to conference, congress and convention since 2013. MyExpo City would include parks and four- and five-star hotels.

TCEB unveils ‘Thailand Connect’ campaign for 2018


Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) unveiled the marketing communication campaign for the year 2018 entitled ‘THAILAND CONNECT Your Vibrant Journey to Business Success, decoded with chapters of possibilities’. The campaign is aimed at further enhancing a position of Thailand as leading bleisure destination in the region. The bureau expects that, by the end of next year, the country will welcome 1,192,000 international MICE visitors which generate revenue of 112 billion baht. Supawan Teerarat, Vice President of TCEB’s Strategic and Business Development, said, “TCEB has been introducing key fundamental pillars of MICE industry which include a diversity of destination, business opportunities, and people of Thailand. These strengths are well positioning Thailand as a leading destination for bleisure activities in the region.” TCEB’s campaign was launched at the 25th Incentive Travel & Convention, Meetings Asia (IT&CMA), and the 20th Corporate Travel World Asia-Pacific (CTW Asia-Pacific). The IT&CM Asia is recognised as the leading international MICE event centered in Asia-Pacific. “The marketing campaign is aimed at raising the industry profile and visits. International events which will be held in Thailand in the coming years include: the 2018 MDRT Experience and Global Conference during 1-8 February; Bangkok Entertainment Fest during March-June; Sport Accord Convention 2018 during 15-20 April; ASEAN Sustainable Energy Week 2018  during 6-9 June; ProPak Asia 2018 during 13-16 June;  the 45th International Council for Traditional Music (ICTM 2019) during 7-14 July; the 31st Congress of Asia-Pacific Association of Cataract & Refractive Surgeon (APACRS 2018) during 19-21 July; Beyond Beauty Asean Bangkok 2018 during 20-22 September; and Metalex 2018 during 21-24 November,” Teerarat concluded.

IT &CMA, CTW underway in Bangkok

45% increase in number of meetings at ITE HCMC 2017


The recently-concluded International Travel Expo Ho Chi Minh City (ITE HCMC)  saw 5,282 meetings between the buyers and sellers, a 45 per cent increase from last year.  The 13th annual event held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, was endorsed by the Ministry of Culture, Sports & Tourism, Vietnam, and the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, and was organised by the Vietnam National administration of Tourism, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, Informa Exhibitions, and the Vietnam Trade Fair & Advertising Joint Stock. BIEC accredited with ‘Gold’ rating from Green Building Councils


The newly constructed Hall 4 at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) has been honoured with Gold ratings by both Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) under its New Building rating system and US Green Building Council (USGBC) under its Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating level. IGBC rating programme covers methodologies to cover diverse climatic zones and changing lifestyles. LEED certification is an official recognition that a project complies with the requirements prescribed within the LEED rating systems as created and maintained by USGBC. It is an internationally accepted benchmark for design, construction and operation of green buildings. Delhi to host Global MICE Travel Mart


The second edition of the Global MICE Travel Mart (GMTM), the only branded MICE Inbound Tourism platform in India will be held in Delhi from September 14-16, 2017, at The Lalit, New Delhi. The Ministry of Tourism and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) are organising the event, which will aim to intensively focus on MICE inbound Tourism and Buyer – Seller Meet over two days. The meet shall reap significant transacting and capitalising of business opportunities between international buyers, opinion leaders from main line associations who organise mega conferences in India and sellers of MICE tourism products in India. The mart will be instrumental in putting MICE destinations in India on the itineraries of the foreign tour operators.

EEMA celebrated its 10th Conclave in Delhi

Event and Entertainment Management Association (EEMA) celebrated its 10th edition conclave from September 8-10,  in Hotel Pullman, Aerocity, New Delhi. Themed ‘a decade of transformation’, it was a part of the EEMAX Global Conclave and Awards organised by EEMA. Sabbas Joseph, President, EEMA, elucidated on the event and said, “It was an event that got everyone together. Sharing the journey with nostalgia were the three presidents of EEMA. We had around 283 registered members and an attendance of about 350 people.” Adding on about growing number of talent in the country, he said, “We have a programme for youth empowerment and education and talent development, the first launch of it was on September 8, at the EEMA Eduposium. We are now looking at management programmes, how can we embellish that with content from the event management companies and create event management as an option. It is something that we believe in, along with the vision of the Prime Minister of India. If we can help, skill development, and retain talent, we will become great employers to showcase the real talent in the country.”

Asia-Pacific sees growth in the meetings and events space: CWT


A report on future trends in the meetings and events space by the CWT Meetings & Events (CWT M&E), a division of global travel management company Carlson Wagonlit Travel, revealed that the overall cost per attendee per day for meetings and events around the globe increased in 2017 and is expected to continue rising next year. Titled as 2018 Meetings and Events Future Trend, the report also looks into regional differences and cost projections, as well as the latest industry trends and top destinations. According to the report, the cost per attendee per day for meetings and events in Asia Pacific has increased by 5 per cent in 2017, the greatest for any region globally. It stated that the prices are not changing much in Asia Pacific, for either hotels or air fares, with a surge of 3.5 per cent and 2.8 per cent respectively.
