Tourism Australia’s ITM 2018 witnesses over 6,500 meetings

The 16th edition of Tourism Australia’s India Travel Mission 2018 (ITM 2018) in Jaipur brought together 75 Australian tourism businesses to meet with 87 travel retailers from India in over 6,500 business appointments over three days. The event witnessed participation from 14 first-time sellers and 20 buyers. The spotlight during ITM 2018 was on Signature Experiences –a collection which offers a diverse range of travel options including Australian Wildlife Collection, Great Golf Courses of Australia, Great Walks of Australia, Luxury Lodges of Australia and the Ultimate Winery Experiences of Australia. “India is a significant market for Australia and has been seeing a very encouraging growth trend. The introduction of Signature Experiences, the participation of new products showcasing at ITM this year and commitment of tourism suppliers who have been investing in India over the past decade is a cohesive effort to bring top selection of Australian tourism experiences to Indian High Value Travellers (HVTs),” stated Brent Anderson, Regional General Manager – South & South East Asia, Tourism Australia. Nishant Kashikar, Country Manager – India & Gulf, Tourism Australia, said, “ITM 2018 has the largest ever delegation of Australian tourism suppliers. Our focus for the year is to sustain the growth in arrivals and drive yield through our strategic trade and consumer initiatives. Thailand to host Horti ASIA 2018 and AGRITECHNICA ASIA 2018

Thailand is set to host two major agricultural business events which feature smart technologies during 22-24 August 2018. Attracted by Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) , these events will underscore the country’s leading position in the world’s agriculture sector and are expected to attract up to 20,000 international delegates coming to explore agricultural innovations displayed under one roof. Highlights of the smart-tech designed from Thailand such as an intelligent sugarcane cutting machine and a smart plant-nursery with an artificial lighting system will be showcased along with an agricultural drone technology from China. Chiruit Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya, President of Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (Public Organization) or TCEB, said that TCEB provides support for two agricultural trade fairs which to be hosted in Thailand namely Horti ASIA 2018 – a leading international trade show for horticulture and floricultural production and processing technology, and AGRITECHNICA ASIA 2018 – the world’s largest trade fair for agricultural machinery and equipment. Both events will take place in Bangkok during 22-24 August 2018 at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Center or BITEC. India to generate 2mn outbound MiCE tourists by 2020: Report

According to a report, the Indian sub-continent is reaping positive growth trends for the its Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) segment. The India Outbound Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions Tourism Market Report: Country Outlook, Analysis, Size, Share and Forecast 2018 – 2025 states that the country’s outbound tourism market is expected to exceed US$ 45 Billion by 2025, the report also showcased that India shall generate more than two million outbound MiCE tourists by 2020. 80 hosted buyers at MeetingPlanners Russia 2018

The 6th edition of MeetingPlanners Russia is set to take place at the InterContinental Moscow Tverskaya, Moscow, from September 10-11. Dozens of hosted buyers and MiCE solution providers from Russia, CIS and Asian countries, will seek an opportunity to network with new business partners and event planners. Some 80 hosted buyers from Russia, CIS and nearby Asian countries, including corporate buyers representing the oil & gas, IT and pharmaceuticals industries, are expected to participate at the event. Korea MICE Expo from June 14-15 at Incheon

The Korea MICE Expo (KME), a suited platform for incentive planners and meeting professionals, will be held on June 14 and 15 in Songdo Convensia, Incheon. The two-day event aims to provide a perfect venue for over 2,000 expected attending MiCE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) industry professionals to engage with 300 exhibiting local service providers, including convention bureaus, unique venues and travel agencies. Delegates from 80 countries attend Africa’s Travel Indaba at Durban ICC

More than 6000 representatives from 80 countries around the world converged at Durban’s ICC to attend the biggest travel trade show in Africa, Travel Indaba, which is underway until May 10, 2018. “It’s fair to say that good business concluded at this show can translate into measurable economic growth for the entire continent,” says Sisa Ntshona, CEO, South African Tourism. According to the organisers, the online meetings confirmed for the show between buyers and exhibitors had already exceeded the 2017 numbers two weeks before the opening. 25th ATM underway, welcomes 2,500 exhibitors from 150 countries

The 25th edition of Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2018 was inaugurated on April 22, 2018 by His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai. He was joined by Nick Pilbream, Divisional Director, Reed Travel Exhibitions, and other VIPs who embarked on a tour of the exhibition as the four-day industry showcase got underway. This year’s show, held at Dubai World Trade Centre is underway until April 25, 2018. The show saw a conglomeration of more than 400 main stand holders with representation from over 150 countries. With more than 40,000 visitors expected to attend, ATM 2018 will showcase over 2,500 exhibiting companies and 65 national pavilions. ATM 2018 has adopted Responsible Tourism – including sustainable travel trends – as its main theme and this will be integrated across all show verticals and activities. Arabian Travel Market celebrated its silver jubilee with over 2,500 exhibitors and 40,000 industry professionals from 150 countries. Travel trade professionals from across the world’s hospitality industry will showcase the largest exhibition of regional and global hotel brands, with hotels comprising 20 per cent of the total show area. 10th Great Indian Travel Bazaar witnesses 280 buyers & 270 exhibitors

The 10th edition of Great Indian Travel Bazaar (GITB) opened with 280 foreign buyers from 55 countries and 270 exhibitors at The Lalit Jaipur on April 22 and is underway until April 24. Committed to boost tourism in India, the inbound show was inaugurated by Vasundhara Raje, Chief Minister, Rajasthan; Rashmi Verma, Secretary, Ministry of Tourism; Jyotsna Suri, Chairperson, FICCI Tourism Committee; Dipak Deva, Co-Chairman, FICCI Tourism Committee; Nihal Chand Goel, Additional Chief Secretary (Tourism, Art & Culture), among other officials from the Government of Rajasthan. The show, celebrating a decade of successfully promoting inbound tourism in Rajasthan, hopes to cross the 11,000 mark in terms of pre-scheduled B2B meetings between the exhibitors and buyers. Raje said, “It is heartening to see such an enthusiastic participation at GITB. The tourism sector has seen a new vigour and dynamism after the launch of the campaign ‘Jane Kya dikh Jaye’. Our vision was to get 50 million tourists in Rajasthan by 2020 but by the end of 2017 itself, the state received 47.5 million tourists and we would compete our target by the end of 2018.” Raje also thanked the central government for the financial support provided for the state’s various tourism projects. An MoU was also singed on behalf of the Government of Rajasthan and FICCI under which the GITB will continue to be hosted till 2024. Emirates introduces new fully enclosed first-class private suite at ATM

Emirates unveiled its new Boeing 777-300ER First Class Private Suite at the ongoing Arabian Travel Market in Dubai. The airline is also showcasing its latest Boeing 777 Business Class seat, the A380 onboard lounge, along with other products such as the First Class Shower Spa and the latest version of its Economy Class seats. Visitors could experience the Emirates network through an interactive 60 second challenge played on a touchscreen route map. Last year, the airline launched new passenger routes to Newark via Athens, Zagreb and Phnom Penh, and later this year, Emirates will begin services to London Stanstead and Santiago de Chile. This year marks Emirates’ 25th year of partnership and commitment to ATM. When the exhibition first opened its doors in 1993, Emirates flew 15 aircraft to 32 destinations and carried 2 million passengers. The Emirates stand at ATM will offer visitors a chance to experience the airline’s recently-launched products and service enhancements. The game changing, fully enclosed first-class private suites on exhibit have floor to ceiling sliding doors, soft leather seating, high-tech control panels and mood lighting. Incorporating cutting-edge technology, the suites also feature several world-firsts, including ‘virtual windows’ using real-time fibre-optic camera technology, a NASA inspired ‘zero-gravity’ seating position and a personal video-call service.
