ICCA sees conglomeration of 1264 meeting experts

The 56th Congress of the International Congress and Convention Association – ICCA, held from Novemeber 12-15, in Prague, witnessed a total of 1,264 meeting industry experts from 79 countries. The event was organised by the Prague Convention Bureau with the support of more than 40 local partners. “According to the results of the impact study prepared for us by KPMG, multiplied revenues from the Prague congress industry were between 22 and 26 billion Czech Crowns in 2016. We expect that 15-25 association congresses or conferences could take place in Prague in the span of the next ten years as a result of the 56th ICCA Congress, generating a revenue of 2.1 billion Crowns in multiplication. Of course, this number may be far from final,” said Roman Muška, Director of the Prague Convention Bureau.

Dubai to host ICCA in 2018

Dubai will host the 57th Congress of the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) next year from November 11-14, 2018, at Dubai World Trade Centre. This year’s edition recently concluded in Prague. Dubai was chosen host city for the 57th ICCA Congress in 2014. The bid for the event was led by Dubai Business Events and Dubai World Trade Centre. The congress will see meeting industry professionals from all over the world gather in Dubai to discuss key challenges and opportunities within the business events industry. Issam Kazim, CEO of Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing, said: “We look forward to welcoming ICCA delegates next year and hosting an event that plays an important role in the development and growth of the business events industry.” Martin Sirk, ICCA CEO, said: “Economies throughout the Gulf and Middle East are going through huge changes to their business models and are diversifying into a wide range of exciting new sectors; association-related meetings activity is bubbling up across trade.” Business events continue to play a key role in achieving Dubai Tourism Vision 2020 and UAE Vision 2021.

Bengaluru to host 1st Karnataka International Travel Expo 2018

The inaugral ‘Karnataka International Travel Expo’, shall be held in Bengaluru from February 28–March 2, 2018. This was announced by the Government of Karnataka, Department of Tourism. The expo is set on a B2B platform with over 400 registered buyers and media from over 25 countries exploring business opportunities for discerning travel and tourism products. Priyank Kharge, Minister for Tourism, IT & BT, Government of Karnataka, said “Karnataka is home to a large and exciting portfolio of globally acclaimed tourism products with UNESCO World Heritage Sites, splendid wildlife and resplendent nature, virgin beaches to adorn. ‘Karnataka International Travel Expo’, being held for the first time will provide the impetus to the inbound travel and tourism industry and would enhance the marketing efforts of Karnataka Tourism to promote our destinations to the travel trade from all over the world.” The event is supported by major travel trade and hospitality associations in India such as ADTOI, ATOAI, IATO, TAAI, SKAL, FICCI, Karnataka Tourism Forum, Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Association of India (FHRAI), among others. KITE will attract over 1,000 delegates from over 25 countries for the three-day event, facilitating over 10,000 pre-matched appointments and bringing together qualified international buyers and sellers for face-to-face meetings, educational forums and networking functions.

3rd Jeju MICE Expo in November

The 3rd Jeju MICE Expo will be held from November 8-10, 2017 in ICC JEJU(International Convention Center JEJU) at Jeju, South Korea. The event is hosted by Jeju Special Self-Governing Province and organised by Jeju CVB (Jeju Convention & Visitors Bureau). The show aims to promote the MICE industry of Jeju Island and improve the competitiveness of local business. There will be an opening ceremony, a MICE Job Fair, a MICE Talk Concert, and also one-on-one business meetings between buyers and local MICE businesses on November 9. On November 10, delegates will participate in a FAM tour to explore Jeju Island. Lee Seung Chan, Director of Tourism department at Jeju Special Self-Governing Province and Concurrent Chairman of Jeju CVB said, “The Jeju MICE Expo is the only trade fair organized by a provincial government. We will spare no effort to make this opportunity to promote Jeju’s MICE industry and assist local MICE companies to proactively respond to external changes and explore new markets through exchanges with buyers home and abroad.”

ACE of MICE to be held in Turkey in February, 2018

The fifth ACE of MICE exhibition is going to be held in Istanbul, Turkey, from February 21-23, 2018. Organised by  Turkish Airlines in Turkey, it is the third largest congress of meeting and events exhibition in the world. The city of Istanbul will once again become the focus of the international MICE industry. The event will be held at Istanbul Congress Center with the motto of previous year ‘MICE industry convenes with all of its colours!’ Held every year by the Tourism Media Group organisation, the exhibition will see 746 hosted buyers from 39 countries flock to the city. Over 9,791 business to business (B2B) meetings have been arranged, along with 220 national and international exhibitors, 19 sessions, 35 speakers, 160 sponsors at the event. Over 15,000 domestic and foreign visitors are expected to witness the event. According to the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), Turkey is among the top ten of the world’s meeting destinations. The country ranks 18th globally as a growing destination for MICE tourism. Turkey is exceptionally well positioned as a destination for the MICE industry, both in terms of trade and culture.

2nd Aero Expo underway in New Delhi

The 2nd Aero Expo organised by PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry is underway in New Delhi. The four-day event will also feature India’s first Heli Expo on November 4 and 5. Vice President of India Venkaiah Naidu inaugurated the mega event, which will deliberate on the key focus areas for Indian aviation to sustain and grow itself in the coming years. Also gracing the event was Ashok Gajapathi Raju Pusapati, Minister of Civil Aviation, Government of India, and Jayant Sinha, Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Government of India, among other industry stalwarts and key stakeholders. Speaking about the future prospect of the country’s aviation network, Naidu said, “Apart from playing a key role in promoting connectivity between various regions and creating jobs, the civil aviation sector is one of the key drivers of the economy. As such, a continued introspection of the current policies, norms and infrastructure needs to be done to ensure the sectors contribution towards the economy.” Jayant Sinha also met with the leading CEOs and CMD of the industry to discuss the future of civil aviation. India’s strongest-ever participation at IFTM Top Resa 2017
