India Tourism Mart underway in Delhi

The maiden India Tourism Mart (ITM), organised by the Ministry of Tourism, along with Federation of Associations in Tourism and Hospitality (FAITH), is underway until September 18, 2018,  at The Ashok, New Delhi. The mart was formally inaugurated by Piyush Goyal, Union Minister for Railways, Coal and Corporate Affairs, in the presence of KJ Alphons, Minister of State (I/C), Ministry of Tourism. The event witnessed presence of 250 delegates from 60 countries, who also attended the Paryatan Parv at the Rajpath Lawns. The buyers were welcomed at The Ashok by Nakul Anand, Chairman, FAITH, who met with all the presidents of associations under the FAITH umbrella, as well as the exhibitors. ITM will give an opportunity to the buyers to see world-class tourism facilities available in the country such as airports, hotels, tourist destinations, MiCE facilities, potential in the field of adventure tourism and other niche products.

PATA Travel Mart 2018: Over 1400 delegates

PATA Travel Mart (PTM) 2018, held from September 12-14  at Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre in Langkawi, Malaysia, opened to more than 1400 delegates. Addressing them, Mario Hardy, Chief Executive Officer, PATA, said, “PATA Travel Mart continues to stand tall in the Asia Pacific as the most value-adding network. The event’s continued success is due to its ability to strike the right balance between quality and quantity when it comes to buyer and seller appointments. So far, PTM has welcomed a total of 389 sellers from 208 organisations and 33 destinations. On the buyer side, we have a total of 252 buyers from 241 organisations and 53 source markets. Overall, there are more than 1400 delegates who have joined us this week.” Speaking at the occasion, YB Tuan Mohamaddin Ketapi, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Malaysia, said, “As the host country of PTM, it is an opportunity for us to promote Malaysia as the ideal leisure and business destination. A key area we are constantly working on is visa facilitation. Improved visa facilities in India and China are making it convenient for more travellers to visit Malaysia. TCEB generates 1 trillion baht MiCE revenue to Thailand

Thailand Conventions & Exhibitions Bureau (TCEB) has reported more than one trillion baht of the MiCE revenue generated to Thailand’s economy. The bureau showcased 13 years of its MiCE development path  at the Thailand MICE Forum 2018: Redefining Our Industry.  Since TCEB’s establishment, Thailand has been hosting 20 international MICE events per a year through the bureau’s successful bids while supports have been granted to more than 5,000 MICE events in Thailand and overseas. During the forum, TCEB also announced the reform of its strategies in three parts to promote the sustainable MICE industry in the fiscal year 2019. Dr. Atchaka Sibunruang, Chairman of the Board of Directors, TCEB, said the bureau has provided support to more than 5,000 domestic and international events held in Thailand and overseas countries. TCEB has been engaging in important missions to support the development of MiCE sector including the establishment of MICE Standards, the facilitation for MiCE Visa and MiCE logistics, as well as the development of MiCE Prototype Manual, MICE Cities and Area-based Development. “The statistics from 2017 showed that TCEB and operators in the MiCE industry had created a positive impact on the Thailand’s economy in different aspects. MiCE expenditure stood as high as 231,200 million baht, contributing 173,000 million baht, or 1.1%, to the country’s GDP. The contribution rate of MiCE to the country’s GDP is comparable to Singapore. Meanwhile, in the same year, the industry has contributed 21,600 million baht of tax and created as many as 167,300 jobs,” said Dr. Atchaka. India Tourism Mart to showcase 274 buyers from Sept 16-18

The upcoming India Tourism Mart (ITM), jointly organised by Ministry of Tourism and Federation of Associations in Indian Tourism and Hospitality (FAITH), is scheduled to be held from September 16-18, 2018, at The Ashok, New Delhi.  A total of 274 buyers have been selected for the event. Subhash Goyal, Honorary Secretary, FAITH, shared, “We have selected 274 buyers out of over 600 applications by a screening committee to ensure that we only have genuine buyers. For sellers, we have about 16 participating states, out of which the major partner states are Punjab and Gujarat. Around 70 small booths have been taken by tour operators, worth Rs 60,000 on individual basis and Rs 30,000 each on sharing. This totals to about 100 tour operators. Besides, IATO has taken six booths with 12 operators each, for whom IATO has subsidised the rates at around Rs 15,000 each. Similarly, ATOAI has taken a number of booths. We have even given booths for operators in the Northeast.

Holland Sales Mission in India projects business opportunities

NBTC Holland Marketing, in collaboration with Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and Jet Airways, organised the Holland Sales Mission 2018. This three-day event was held from August 28 to 30, 2018, in Delhi, Bengaluru, and Mumbai. The Mission aimed to educate the travel trade about the tourism offerings in the Netherlands, also allowing them to explore the many opportunities that lie within. The B2B sessions allowed delegates to learn more about Holland’s key offerings in Amsterdam and beyond. Participants learned about up-and-coming attractions, airline connections, and were also able to address their concerns about visa norms. Holland Sales Mission 2018 included participation of several private players from the Netherlands, including Lovers Canal Cruises, Efteling Theme Park, Henri Willig Cheese Farms, Madurodam theme park, and ITO Tours. Tourism Australia’s ITM 2018 witnesses over 6,500 meetings

The 16th edition of Tourism Australia’s India Travel Mission 2018 (ITM 2018) in Jaipur brought together 75 Australian tourism businesses to meet with 87 travel retailers from India in over 6,500 business appointments over three days. The event witnessed participation from 14 first-time sellers and 20 buyers. The spotlight during ITM 2018 was on Signature Experiences –a collection which offers a diverse range of travel options including Australian Wildlife Collection, Great Golf Courses of Australia, Great Walks of Australia, Luxury Lodges of Australia and the Ultimate Winery Experiences of Australia. “India is a significant market for Australia and has been seeing a very encouraging growth trend. The introduction of Signature Experiences, the participation of new products showcasing at ITM this year and commitment of tourism suppliers who have been investing in India over the past decade is a cohesive effort to bring top selection of Australian tourism experiences to Indian High Value Travellers (HVTs),” stated Brent Anderson, Regional General Manager – South & South East Asia, Tourism Australia. Thailand to host Horti ASIA 2018 and AGRITECHNICA ASIA 2018

Thailand is set to host two major agricultural business events which feature smart technologies during 22-24 August 2018. Attracted by Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) , these events will underscore the country’s leading position in the world’s agriculture sector and are expected to attract up to 20,000 international delegates coming to explore agricultural innovations displayed under one roof. Highlights of the smart-tech designed from Thailand such as an intelligent sugarcane cutting machine and a smart plant-nursery with an artificial lighting system will be showcased along with an agricultural drone technology from China. Chiruit Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya, President of Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (Public Organization) or TCEB, said that TCEB provides support for two agricultural trade fairs which to be hosted in Thailand namely Horti ASIA 2018 – a leading international trade show for horticulture and floricultural production and processing technology, and AGRITECHNICA ASIA 2018 – the world’s largest trade fair for agricultural machinery and equipment. Both events will take place in Bangkok during 22-24 August 2018 at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Center or BITEC. 80 hosted buyers at MeetingPlanners Russia 2018

The 6th edition of MeetingPlanners Russia is set to take place at the InterContinental Moscow Tverskaya, Moscow, from September 10-11. Dozens of hosted buyers and MiCE solution providers from Russia, CIS and Asian countries, will seek an opportunity to network with new business partners and event planners. Some 80 hosted buyers from Russia, CIS and nearby Asian countries, including corporate buyers representing the oil & gas, IT and pharmaceuticals industries, are expected to participate at the event. The two-day MeetingPlanners Russia 2018 forum will include pre-scheduled meetings, keynotes by MiCE industry experts, networking and educational sessions, luncheons and invitation-only receptions. “We’re confident that the time we spend on our thorough selection procedures and communication with the buyers have been paying off in terms of bringing high ROI to all participating convention bureaus, tourism bureaus and MiCE suppliers.
