India Tourism Mart to showcase 274 buyers from Sept 16-18

The upcoming India Tourism Mart (ITM), jointly organised by Ministry of Tourism and Federation of Associations in Indian Tourism and Hospitality (FAITH), is scheduled to be held from September 16-18, 2018, at The Ashok, New Delhi.  A total of 274 buyers have been selected for the event. Subhash Goyal, Honorary Secretary, FAITH, shared, “We have selected 274 buyers out of over 600 applications by a screening committee to ensure that we only have genuine buyers. For sellers, we have about 16 participating states, out of which the major partner states are Punjab and Gujarat. Around 70 small booths have been taken by tour operators, worth Rs 60,000 on individual basis and Rs 30,000 each on sharing. This totals to about 100 tour operators. Besides, IATO has taken six booths with 12 operators each, for whom IATO has subsidised the rates at around Rs 15,000 each. Similarly, ATOAI has taken a number of booths. We have even given booths for operators in the Northeast.

Holland Sales Mission in India projects business opportunities

NBTC Holland Marketing, in collaboration with Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and Jet Airways, organised the Holland Sales Mission 2018. This three-day event was held from August 28 to 30, 2018, in Delhi, Bengaluru, and Mumbai. The Mission aimed to educate the travel trade about the tourism offerings in the Netherlands, also allowing them to explore the many opportunities that lie within. The B2B sessions allowed delegates to learn more about Holland’s key offerings in Amsterdam and beyond. Participants learned about up-and-coming attractions, airline connections, and were also able to address their concerns about visa norms. Holland Sales Mission 2018 included participation of several private players from the Netherlands, including Lovers Canal Cruises, Efteling Theme Park, Henri Willig Cheese Farms, Madurodam theme park, and ITO Tours. Marten van den Berg, Ambassador Designate, Kingdom of the Netherlands, said, “The Netherlands is about tradition, it is about long history, it is about art, visionary architecture, cutting-edge design, and also about romantic nightlife. There are so many places, other than Amsterdam, to go to in the Netherlands. It is also one of the most globalised countries in the world. We are extremely open to international trade, international investment, and because of our international connections, we have a wonderful infrastructure connected to all the countries in Europe. The Netherlands is also used as a hub for tourists to go to Paris, London, and Berlin. Tourism Australia’s ITM 2018 witnesses over 6,500 meetings

The 16th edition of Tourism Australia’s India Travel Mission 2018 (ITM 2018) in Jaipur brought together 75 Australian tourism businesses to meet with 87 travel retailers from India in over 6,500 business appointments over three days. The event witnessed participation from 14 first-time sellers and 20 buyers. The spotlight during ITM 2018 was on Signature Experiences –a collection which offers a diverse range of travel options including Australian Wildlife Collection, Great Golf Courses of Australia, Great Walks of Australia, Luxury Lodges of Australia and the Ultimate Winery Experiences of Australia. “India is a significant market for Australia and has been seeing a very encouraging growth trend. The introduction of Signature Experiences, the participation of new products showcasing at ITM this year and commitment of tourism suppliers who have been investing in India over the past decade is a cohesive effort to bring top selection of Australian tourism experiences to Indian High Value Travellers (HVTs),” stated Brent Anderson, Regional General Manager – South & South East Asia, Tourism Australia. Nishant Kashikar, Country Manager – India & Gulf, Tourism Australia, said, “ITM 2018 has the largest ever delegation of Australian tourism suppliers. Thailand to host Horti ASIA 2018 and AGRITECHNICA ASIA 2018

Thailand is set to host two major agricultural business events which feature smart technologies during 22-24 August 2018. Attracted by Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) , these events will underscore the country’s leading position in the world’s agriculture sector and are expected to attract up to 20,000 international delegates coming to explore agricultural innovations displayed under one roof. Highlights of the smart-tech designed from Thailand such as an intelligent sugarcane cutting machine and a smart plant-nursery with an artificial lighting system will be showcased along with an agricultural drone technology from China. Chiruit Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya, President of Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (Public Organization) or TCEB, said that TCEB provides support for two agricultural trade fairs which to be hosted in Thailand namely Horti ASIA 2018 – a leading international trade show for horticulture and floricultural production and processing technology, and AGRITECHNICA ASIA 2018 – the world’s largest trade fair for agricultural machinery and equipment. Both events will take place in Bangkok during 22-24 August 2018 at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Center or BITEC. These trade fairs will further strengthen Thailand’s position as a major hub for trade and investment in agricultural machinery as well as innovative technologies which have been building on the country’s significant role in the world’s agricultural sector. India to generate 2mn outbound MiCE tourists by 2020: Report

According to a report, the Indian sub-continent is reaping positive growth trends for the its Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) segment. The India Outbound Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions Tourism Market Report: Country Outlook, Analysis, Size, Share and Forecast 2018 – 2025 states that the country’s outbound tourism market is expected to exceed US$ 45 Billion by 2025, the report also showcased that India shall generate more than two million outbound MiCE tourists by 2020. IATO’s 34th annual convention in Vizag

The 34th annual convention of the Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) is set to be held from September 6-9, 2018 at Novotel Hotel Vishakhapatnam. The association had recently hosted a luncheon meet at Le Meridien, New Delhi, to update its members on the event. The association felicitated Mukesh Kumar Meena, Secretary Tourism, Andhra Pradesh and Himanshu Shukla, CEO, Andhra Pradesh Tourism Authority, at the event. Convention Chairman Rajeev Mehra had said, “We are getting close to our desired goal in meeting the required number of professionals of the trade from various parts of the country to make our convention successful.” With the utmost support of Andhra Pradesh Tourism, IATO, is confident of its convention. Meena, while addressing the members had informed, “ We will also be hosting post tours for the delegation of about 200 or more.”

Incredible India roadshows in the US

With an aim to project India as a ‘must visit’ tourist destination, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Tourism, K. J. Alphons will attend a series of ‘Incredible India roadshows’ in the US, from June 18-22,  2018. The roadshows will be held in several major cities of US including New York, Chicago & Houston. The Incredible India roadshows will hold B2B interactions, presentations and press briefings by the Indian delegation. The key note addresses will be delivered by the Tourism Minister and Incredible India presentation will be made by Joint Secretary Ministry of Tourism Suman Billa. The roadshows will include cultural performances also. USA is one among the top three source countries in the percentage share of Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTAs) in India. During April 2018, the US was the second highest source country with 11.21 per cent share of total FTAs.

80 hosted buyers at MeetingPlanners Russia 2018

The 6th edition of MeetingPlanners Russia is set to take place at the InterContinental Moscow Tverskaya, Moscow, from September 10-11. Dozens of hosted buyers and MiCE solution providers from Russia, CIS and Asian countries, will seek an opportunity to network with new business partners and event planners. Some 80 hosted buyers from Russia, CIS and nearby Asian countries, including corporate buyers representing the oil & gas, IT and pharmaceuticals industries, are expected to participate at the event. Korea MICE Expo from June 14-15 at Incheon

The Korea MICE Expo (KME), a suited platform for incentive planners and meeting professionals, will be held on June 14 and 15 in Songdo Convensia, Incheon. The two-day event aims to provide a perfect venue for over 2,000 expected attending MiCE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) industry professionals to engage with 300 exhibiting local service providers, including convention bureaus, unique venues and travel agencies. To foster a business-friendly event, this year’s KME will be in an unconventional format, ditching the usual sit-down gala dinner and forums. “We want this expo to be bigger and meaningful to all the participants. Global Exhibitions Day: 85 countries participate

Exhibition professionals around the world came out in record numbers for the third Global Exhibitions Day (GED) that was held on June 6. This highlights the industry’s role as a driver of economic growth with 85 countries taking part, reveals UFI, the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry data. Corrado Peraboni, President, UFI, said, “I am pleased to see the prominent support from ministers in national governments who shared their understanding of how important exhibitions and business events are for their economies and citizens.” GED’s focus this year were on two key areas: to advocate industry issues with politicians and stakeholders, and finding new ways to connect with young people to attract the right talent to the exhibition industry. The UFI team in Paris had registered activities in 85 countries and regions from all around the world, with the leading organisers, venues and service providers all being active. Coordinated by UFI, this joint advocacy campaign also united 41 GED partner associations. Activities in all parts of the world saw a broad mix of activities, both on-site and online, promoting exhibitions as business platforms, as well as highlighting opportunities for career and business development. Specific events and activities were arranged by many of the international and national organisers, by venues, by service providers, and also by national and regional associations.
