Pacific World has highlighted some crucial MICE trends to watch for in 2018. “Over the past several months, we’ve systematically collected data, insights and feedback from our worldwide network of planners and clients,” said Patricia Silvio, Global Marketing Manager, Pacific World.  “We’ve learned about the most requested destinations as well as the types of engagements that are trending. While many believe in the importance and use of technology for events, we believe it is important to focus on another level of connection.  In the last year, we have seen a change in the way our clients approach travel.  An incentive is not a nice trip to reward an employee; it is also an opportunity to interact, learn and experience. We’re seeing a new generation of global citizens that are committed to the idea of an open and interconnected world. Destination Trends: Of requests for Asia, Thailand (18 per cent), China (15 per cent), Indonesia (14 per cent) and Hong Kong (13 per cent) comprise the most. Of 1,500 events operated over the past 6 months by Pacific World, China, Spain and Thailand have hosted the most events. More than 200 events have been held in China; 195 in Spain and 180 in Thailand. Demand for European destinations have increased 44 per cent over the last year, with Spain leading the requests. India’s strongest-ever participation at IFTM Top Resa 2017

India’s participation grew manifolds at IFTM Top Resa MAP Pro, France’s only multi-sector travel and tourism trade show. Indian states, such as, Kerala, Rajasthan, Karnataka and Goa received an overwhelming response from this market. India Tourism and the private sector created a buzz and saw great potential at the event held from September 25-28. The four-day event was attended by 30,929 industry professionals, demonstrating the vitality and energy that characterise the travel and tourism industry. TCEB unveils ‘Thailand Connect’ campaign for 2018

Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) unveiled the marketing communication campaign for the year 2018 entitled ‘THAILAND CONNECT Your Vibrant Journey to Business Success, decoded with chapters of possibilities’. The campaign is aimed at further enhancing a position of Thailand as leading bleisure destination in the region. The bureau expects that, by the end of next year, the country will welcome 1,192,000 international MICE visitors which generate revenue of 112 billion baht. Supawan Teerarat, Vice President of TCEB’s Strategic and Business Development, said, “TCEB has been introducing key fundamental pillars of MICE industry which include a diversity of destination, business opportunities, and people of Thailand. These strengths are well positioning Thailand as a leading destination for bleisure activities in the region.” TCEB’s campaign was launched at the 25th Incentive Travel & Convention, Meetings Asia (IT&CMA), and the 20th Corporate Travel World Asia-Pacific (CTW Asia-Pacific). The IT&CM Asia is recognised as the leading international MICE event centered in Asia-Pacific. “The marketing campaign is aimed at raising the industry profile and visits. IT &CMA, CTW underway in Bangkok

The 25th IT&CMA and 20th CTW Asia-Pacific opened to a furore of event highlights, activities and entertainment to deliver an unforgettable anniversary edition. ibtm world 2017 introduces pavilion for start-up event companies

To enable technology and experiential start-up companies exhibit their product to more than 15,000 highly influential MICE industry professionals, ibtm world 2017 has introduced a new start-up pavilion. The three-day event will be held from November 28-30, 2017, at Fira Gran Via Barcelona in Spain. Companies eligible to exhibit in the start-up pavilion must be two years or younger, with five or fewer full-time employees and with an annual turnover of less than $600,000.  As part of the exhibiting package, the companies will receive opportunity to arrange pre-scheduled appointments with high-profile meetings and events planners interested in meeting technology providers. “With so many tech companies entering the industry, it’s fantastic that ibtm world is offering a platform for smaller, younger companies to showcase their ideas and how they’ve put them into action,” said James Morgan, Founder, Event Tech Lab. In 2016, almost 15,000 delegates attended ibtm world, and more than 67,000 pre-scheduled meetings were arranged during the three-day show.

HPMF underway in Jodhpur

Hospitality Purchasing Managers’ Forum (HPMF), a consortium of procurement managers from the hospitality industry representing star hotels, catering companies, stand-alone restaurant chains, and airlines, is celebrating its seventh anniversary from September 14-16, at Indana Palace Jodhpur, Rajasthan. The inauguration, which took place on September 15, saw a conglomeration of 325 attendees. Nitin Nagrale, Founder & General Secretary, HPMF, said, “Being the seventh anniversary we have a theme revolving around the Seven Elements of the Universe. We have a talented pool of people participating at the event and we intend to make this a memorable experience for all. We have a quality crowd and we want them to interact and work together.” The three-day event has two days of B2B sessions. Delhi to host Global MICE Travel Mart

The second edition of the Global MICE Travel Mart (GMTM), the only branded MICE Inbound Tourism platform in India will be held in Delhi from September 14-16, 2017, at The Lalit, New Delhi. The Ministry of Tourism and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) are organising the event, which will aim to intensively focus on MICE inbound Tourism and Buyer – Seller Meet over two days. The meet shall reap significant transacting and capitalising of business opportunities between international buyers, opinion leaders from main line associations who organise mega conferences in India and sellers of MICE tourism products in India. The mart will be instrumental in putting MICE destinations in India on the itineraries of the foreign tour operators.
