Goa Tourism rolls out two mega events

In an effort to showcase its festivals, Goa Tourism is all set to conduct two of its most captivating events, the Grape Escapade  and  Goa Vintage Car & Bike Festival 2018 in the second  fortnight  of April 2018. The lifestyle and wine festival organised by Goa Tourism through Goa Tourism Development Corporation  (GTDC), the ‘Grape Escapade 2018’ will begin from  April 19-22  at the D.B. Bandodkar Ground, Campal, Panjim from 6 pm onwards. This is the 14th edition of the Grape Escapade. The four-day event is expected to draw lakhs of tourists in view of the on-going summer vacations. Over the years, Grape Escapade has provided a platform for local entrepreneurs to share expertise, display products, engage in B2B, and offers  tourists and  Goans an opportunity to  savour on flavours from the vineyard, taste Goan food and experience Goa’s traditions and culture. The festival brings together a host of professionals from the tourism hospitality industry like hoteliers, restaurateurs, wineries and manufacturers to showcase their premium offerings. The Goa Vintage Car & Bike Festival 2018 will hit the streets  of Panjim  on April 29, 2018  at the INOX Courtyard from 10.00 a.m. onwards. Various vintage bike and car owners, users, collectors and fans  will parade along with  their prized possessions around Panjim. The vintage bike and car rally will route from INOX courtyard  to  Miramar Circle and  further proceed to Divja circle and head back to  INOX Courtyard  where they will be  on display  till 6.00 pm. This will be followed by a function  to award prizes and  certificates   for various categories  of vintage  vehicles. Some  of  the categories  will include the oldest automobile, most appealing and the rarest, etc.

Global Exhibition on Services from May 15-18 in Mumbai

The fourth Global Exhibition on Services (GES) is set to take place from May 15-18, 2018, at the Bombay Exhibition Centre in Mumbai. A curtain raiser for the event was held in New Delhi at the Shangri-La hotel. Organised by Ministry of External Affairs and Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, GES is meant to promote the services sector including tourism as well as education. This year, the focus is on Northeast India and ASEAN region as it is themed on ‘The Northeast India-ASEAN Opportunity’. Exhibition and event services, and tourism and hospitality are among the 22 sectors that the government aims to focus on through GES.

Tamarind Global expands base of operations in Dubai

Tamarind Global has gone international by expanding its presence in Dubai, a huge source market for Indian weddings and events. The company already has a presence in Dubai for its tours vertical. It will now offer a bouquet of event and wedding services to support its domestic and international operations from the Dubai office. Weddings and events will be supported by destination selection, planning and budgeting, guest list and vendor management, hospitality, travel and logistics, décor, F&B, entertainment and fashion consultations for the bride and groom wear. Apart from this, MiCE events will also be supported. Travel Luxury Show concludes with 1800 meetings

The Travel Luxury Show, recently concluded in Jaipur, with 1800 successful meetings. Luxury buyers from across India had one-on-one meetings with the sellers. At the inauguration in a high-profile group discussion, luxury trends were highlighted that included the growth statistics of this sector and the immense potential that India has to offer. The luxury Indian traveller is evolving and this platform was a perfect example of that. The show was inaugurated by Guldeep Singh Sahni, Former Founder President, OTOAI; Monica Suri, General Manger, Jaipur Marriott Hotel and Manish Kriplani, Chapter Head South, OTOAI. The next edition of the travel luxury show will be held on April 6 and 7, 2019.

ICPB to promote India as venue for conferences and exhibitions: K. J. Alphons

The Ministry of Tourism has recognised Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions (MICE) as a niche tourism product in order to overcome the problem of seasonality and to promote India as a 365 days’ destination. The India Convention Promotion Bureau (ICPB) has been set up under the patronage of the Ministry of Tourism to promote India as a venue for International Conferences and Exhibitions. This non-profit organization, with members comprising national airlines, hotels, travel agents, tour operators, tourist transport operators, conference organizers, etc. participate in international MICE trade fairs like IMEX in Frankfurt and Las Vegas, EIBTM- Barcelona and AIME- Melbourne along with the India Tourism overseas offices. India is also being promoted as a preferred MICE destination through the Global Incredible India media campaign and through road shows and seminars conducted by the India Tourism offices overseas. Ministry of Tourism also provides Central Financial Assistance to the State Governments/UT Administrations for development of tourism infrastructure including the setting up of convention centres under the existing schemes. This information was given by K. J. Alphons, Union Minister of State (I/C) for Tourism in a written reply in Rajya Sabha.

AccorHotels Showcase 2018 witnesses over 1200 delegates

The AccorHotels Showcase witnessed participation from 35 hotels and resorts from the global network along with 22 hotels from India. The daylong event held in Mumbai on March 21 and Delhi on  March  23, was packed with networking sessions where customers discovered the group’s newest offerings and met with hotel representatives from across the region. The Showcase was the ideal platform to discuss how to work together to benefit from the burgeoning travel market. Over 1200 delegates represented India’s top-most travel agents, wholesalers, corporate clients, tourism partners and MiCE organisers in attendance, this was the largest-ever AccorHotels Showcase event in Asia Pacific. The event saw representation from the marquee hotels namely Raffles Dubai and Saudi Arabia, RIXOS Turkey, Fairmont Ajman, SO Sofitel Bangkok Singapore, Novotel Amsterdam City and Novotel Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, Pullman Paris Eiffel Tower, Swissôtel The Bosphorus Istanbul, Fairmont Dubai and more. One of the key takeaways from the Showcase was that MICE is on the rise globally – with multiple events being held internationally, but also in India which is becoming a chosen destination for MiCE. Furthermore, with increasing globalisation and Indian corporates opening offices around the world, the hospitality industry has seen traction for corporate travel both inbound and outbound. Outbound and inbound travel from and to India has been on the rise. As per research reports, in 2017, Indian travellers took three leisure trips and two in five Indians took international trips. Tamarind to unveil wedding division in Delhi

Tamarind Global will open a wedding division at its Delhi office. After the exponential growth of its weddings and events division of Tamarind Global in Mumbai, the company aims to tap the flourishing wedding business in Delhi-NCR.
