Hyderabad to showcase medical tourism at 3rd IIMTC

The 3rd edition of International India Medical Tourism Congress (IIMTC) will be held in Hyderabad from September 3-4.The Congress organised by International Indian Wellness and Medical Tourism Association (IIWMTA) and Society of Critical Care Emergency Medicine (SCCEM) aims to streamline, promote, and propagate ‘Brand India’ in the arena of medical tourism. Dr. H N Garg, President, SCCEM, says, “The platform will facilitate a stage to show new technology in medical science, hospitals and health centres would be showcasing their technologies and facilities to everyone. Around 100 delegates from nearly 50 countries are expected at the Congress.”

Philippines tourism conducts 4-city road shows in Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru and Mumbai

The Department of Tourism (DOT), Philippines conducted a series of road shows covering Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru and Mumbai from August 8-11, 2016. The event brought a conglomeration of hoteliers, resorts, spas, representatives of travel attractions and tour operators from the Philippines to interact with over 100 local travel trade partners and buyers in B2B sessions.  Verna C Buensuceso, Director, The Department of Tourism (DOT), Philippines said, “Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru and Mumbai are the important feeder markets and hence we are looking forward to strengthening our relations with local travel partners from these cities. Overall, the Philippines is looking forward to welcome 100,000 Indian tourists by 2017.”

Thailand MICE industry back to normal post attacks

The Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) has issued a statement informing international stakeholders that Thailand’s MICE industry continues to operate as normal, and that all public and private sector stakeholders are working together to monitor the situation. This came as an affirmative statement following recent explosions in public areas in some Thai provinces. All hotels, venues and attractions are open and ready to welcome business travellers. Transportation links, major roads and airports continue to operate, including Bangkok’s BTS Skytrain and MRT services and both Don Muang and Suvarnabhumi International Airports, the statement said.

9th Kerala Travel Mart to host 57 countries

The ninth edition of Kerala Travel Mart (KTM) will host 57 countries with 10 first-time participants in Kochi from September 27 till 30. The new participants include China, Japan, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Georgia, Chile, Greece, Iran and Botswana. “KTM has always placed  emphasis on the identification of quality buyers from new countries on retaining participation levels from conventional markets. With 10 new nations confirmed to participate this year, our efforts have borne fruit,” KTM Society President, Abraham George said.

Dubai to host CRS 2016

Dubai is set to host the Corporate Restructuring Summit (CRS)  2016, the first event of its kind in the GCC region place from November 8-9, 2016 at the Dusit Thani Hotel. According to International Monetary Fund (IMF), the Middle East,  saw an estimated US$12 billion worth of bad debt being restructured in the past five years and debt restructuring worth US$78 billion will be required in the next two years in the UAE alone. The summit will focus on the challenges that financial institutions face and the opportunities for financially troubled corporate in the Middle East to remain sustainable.

Business travellers bring in 39,671 bn baht to Thailand

According to the Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), in the first half of the 2016 fiscal year,  from October 2015 to March 2016, Thailand welcomed 493,384 business events travellers, earning the Thai economy more than 39,671 billion baht (approximately US$1,116 million). The top five markets during this period were China, India, Singapore, Malaysia, and the United States. India stood tall with the number of MICE travellers, in the last fiscal, at 102,972 paxs. TCEB initiated a International  Familiarisation trip to showcase emerging destinations around Thailand, while highlighting Bangkok and Chiang Rai.

Indian trade fair market space sold surges to 7.8 %

India is the fastest growing trade fair market in Asia, with its space sold surging to 7.8 per cent last year, according to 12th edition of UFI annual report on the Trade Fair Industry in Asia. The score for Philippines, Indonesia and Vietnam grew above the regional average of 5.6 per cent. Taiwan grew by 2.2 per cent, while  Japan recorded  a weak  1.2 per cent growth, it stated. Asia’s venue capacity is expected to exceed 7.8 million sq. m. by the end of 2016. Kai Hattendorf, UFI Managing Director, said, “This research serves as a strategic resource for organisers, venues and a variety of exhibition industry stakeholders operating in Asia, as it provides sound and neutral data.”
