e-visas for MICE delegates likely: Mahesh Sharma

In an effort to bring India on a par with the US, Germany, Spain, the UK and France, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is likely to approve e-visas for the MICE (Meetings Incentives, Conferences Exhibition) segment soon. Tourism and Culture Minister, Dr Mahesh Sharma said, “We have made a proposal to allow e-visa for the corporates from the world over, who want to hold short-term meets and conferences in India, for just the duration of the conference. The segment is a big revenue-generator since most of these people club business with sight-seeing and shopping. We are likely to get a nod soon.”

Hyderabad TTF exhibits 20 per cent growth


The  TTF (Travel & Tourism Fair), Hyderabad, held at the Hitex Exhibition Centre, provided a lot of business to the 150 stalls from 18 Indian states, Union Territories and eight countries globally. “Keeping with the positive sentiments in the tourism industry, the show is expected to grow by over 20 per cent, compared to last year,” said Sanjiv Agarwal, Chairman and CEO, Fairfest Media, the organiser of TTF.

UKTI (UK Trade & Investment), APPG (All Party Parliamentary Groups) for Events, ILEA (International Live Events Association) and the Events Industry Alliance conglomerated at Farnborough International Airshow (FIA) to witness the new Farnborough facility in England. The area features  a purpose-built space to cater to any kind of exhibition, conference, meeting, dinner or launch event. Spanning an area of  12,500sqm, the hall can accommodate 2,500sqm conference seats and 14 function rooms.

Rwanda joins hands with IMC

To enhance trade, tourism and investments into the country, the Indian Merchants’ Chamber (IMC), headquartered in Mumbai, will be collaborating with the Rwanda Development Board (RDB). This was announced at the RDB’s Meetings Planners Guide 2016, which was launched in Mumbai. Clarence Fernandes, Rwanda Development Board’s representative, said, “We are working closely with various travel bodies like the Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI), Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI), Outbound Tour Operators Association of India (OTOAI), to showcase Rwanda’s rich tourism potential.”
