Sabre ‘SafePoint’ for business travellers

Sabre Corporation has launched a new mobile care solution tool called SafePoint  to help business travellers monitor business trips in a hassle-free manner. The announcement was made at the GBTA Convention 2016. Sabre selected iJET International as the exclusive provider of travel and security intelligence to SafePoint . The traveller during his trips will be automatically notified via the TripCase mobile app, through SMS, and email on the details about the destination.

e-visas for MICE delegates likely: Mahesh Sharma

In an effort to bring India on a par with the US, Germany, Spain, the UK and France, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is likely to approve e-visas for the MICE (Meetings Incentives, Conferences Exhibition) segment soon. Tourism and Culture Minister, Dr Mahesh Sharma said, “We have made a proposal to allow e-visa for the corporates from the world over, who want to hold short-term meets and conferences in India, for just the duration of the conference. The segment is a big revenue-generator since most of these people club business with sight-seeing and shopping. We are likely to get a nod soon.”

Brisbane Convention Centre turns 21


Having hosted numerous events, the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC) recently celebrated 21 long years of hosting 18,000 events, 14 million visitors and delivering $3.87 billion in Queensland. Minister for Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning and Queensland Minister for Tourism and Major Events, Kate Jones, said that the convention centre is a boon to Queensland’s tourism and events industry.

Oman sets up Convention Bureau

Oman has a new Oman Convention Bureau by the Ministry of Tourism, Oman. Talking about the initiative, Salim Al Mamari, Director General of Tourism Promotion, Ministry of Tourism, Oman says, “Our  ‘Tourism Strategy’ for 2040 has MICE as a major pillar for the future to help us grow and enhance and industry. The objective of the bureau is to support to the international and local organisations in hosting their events and cater to their requirements. The main aim is to promote Oman as an ideal destination for the MICE tourism sector.”
