Air India allows upto 40 kg & 50 kg of free check-in baggage on B747 Delhi-Mumbai route


Air India is allowing up to 40 kg and 50 kg of free check-in baggage for economy and business class passengers respectively on Boeing 747 Delhi- Mumbai service. Passengers flying on Delhi-Mumbai route will have an opportunity to experience flying the airlines’ legendary ‘Queen of the Skies’ can avail this facility from January 7, 2017. Presently, Air India allows 25 kg in economy class and 35 kg in business class of free check-in baggage on its flights as compared to 15 kg offered by other airlines. Air India is the only carrier to operate the 423 seater, four engine jumbo jet wide body aircraft called, B747 on the busiest route of India. Air India is also offering attractive fares starting from Rs. 15,000 onwards for travel in First class till January 15, 2017, a service that is being offered only by the flag carrier.

Emirates enhances its luxury products for First and Business Class travellers


Emirates has introduced a host of exclusive, new products to its First and Business Class cabins. Customers will travel in luxury with new additions including First Class lounge wear, luxury blankets, skincare from VOYA and a new range of amenity kits from Bulgari. Emirates has introduced the world’s first moisturising lounge wear designed for an airline. It will be available in the First-Class cabin on overnight long haul flights. Other includes a new range of luxury spa products both on board and on the ground from award-winning Irish brand VOYA. Emirates has also partnered with luxury Italian brand Bulgari for its latest designs of the airline’s exclusive kit bags. Customers can enjoy gourmet, regionally inspired menus on board, paired with Emirates’ world class wine programme featuring the finest champagnes and wines from around the world. Passengers in all classes can enjoy Emirates’ multi-award winning ‘ice’ Digital Widescreen with more than 2,500 channels of on demand entertainment including movies, TV programmes, music and podcasts. Vistara launches services to Amritsar and Leh


Vistara has announced the addition of Amritsar and Leh to its network, starting March 1, 2017, and March 25, 2017, respectively. Vistara will fly direct flights from Delhi to the holy city of Amritsar from March 1, 2017, and from Mumbai, starting March 8, 2017. The airline will operate direct flights between Delhi and Leh on weekends from March 25, 2017 and thereafter, increase the frequency to daily flights starting May 10, 2017 onwards. Tickets are available for booking, starting Jan 6. Flights to Amritsar will initially operate 6 days a week from both Delhi and Mumbai (daily except Mondays), and will increase to daily flights in the summer. Leh flights will also increase from weekends only to daily flights in the summer. Air India connects Pune-Chandigarh with a direct flight


Air India will connect Pune to Chandigarh for the first time with a direct flight from January 16, 2017. This new flight is yet another move to promote regional connectivity by the national carrier. The flight, AI 813 will take off from Chandigarh at 1050 hrs and arrive in Pune at 1320 hrs. The return flight AI 814 from Pune will depart at 1400 hrs and land in Chandigarh at 1630 hrs on all days except Saturday and Sunday. The non-stop flight will operate with an Airbus A-320 aircraft on the Pune-Chandigarh-Pune route. It will provide a much needed connectivity between the two cities and will help to promote industrial development and at the same time also give a fillip to tourism as passengers can avail of good connectivity to holiday destinations such as Kulu, Shimla and Manali in the north and Lonavala and Shirdi near Pune.

Vistara provides check-in through 3 international airlines


Vistara now allows check-in services at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport to international passengers through partnerships with Air France, KLM and Japan Airlines. Seoul MICE Alliance boosts city’s business events competitiveness


Seoul’s public and private sectors have strengthened ties over the past month through a series of initiatives designed to make the city more accessible to international business events hosted in the city and their participants. This includes a dramatic boost in membership in October for the Seoul MICE Alliance (SMA) ahead of the SMA Annual Meeting set to review local industry progress, along with joint activities by SMA members aimed at boosting Seoul’s global convention profile. Formed in 2011 and operated by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and Seoul Tourism Organization (STO), the SMA is a public-private partnership of government agencies and business events service providers including meeting venues, accommodation, DMCs, and others. Meeting planners who use SMA member organizations for their business events are eligible for various benefits, such as reduced rates, complimentary use of event spaces and transportation to and from venues, free promotional space, discounts on event registration, and support for site inspections. AI to operate from Terminal 2 at London Heathrow


Air India at London Heathrow is operating from Terminal-2 instead of Terminal 4, starting January 25, 2017, according to a communication from Air India to the travel industry. Terminal 2 is the designated Star Alliance Terminal at London Heathrow, which Air India will be sharing with 25 other Star Carriers. Air India will be operating out of Zone D. Terminal 2 has self-service Kiosk check-in for economy class passengers followed by bag drop. The check-in kiosk and bag drop will be shared with other airlines in Zone-D. Although, for Premium passenger, Air India will have dedicated counters.In view of self-service kiosk check-in at Ter-2, passenger may be encouraged to use web check-in, mobile check-in, advanced seat reservations etc. to have a smooth check-in experience at T-2.

IndiGo announces 10 additional frequencies, adds 125th A320


Indigo’s new schedule, will see 10 additional frequencies connecting Hyderabad to Goa, Coimbatore, Bhubaneswar and Visakhapatnam. The airline also took delivery of its 13th Airbus A-320 Neo ‘VT–ITH’ aircraft. With this aircraft, the airline now has a 125 aircraft fleet in its 125th month of operation. Jet scales up capacity on domestic & international routes


Jet Airways will deploy its higher seating capacity aircraft – 254-seater Airbus A330 in place of the existing Boeing 737- on two domestic and two international routes from January 2017 in order to cater to the growing passenger demand. While the wide-body service between Mumbai-Chennai-Mumbai is slated to begin from January 15, the airline will commence its Mumbai-Jeddah-Mumbai and Mumbai-Bangalore-Mumbai services from January 16 and the Mumbai-Kuwait-Mumbai service is scheduled to start from January 18. “The introduction of wide-body services on our key domestic routes allows Jet Airways to scale up capacity in response to increase in demand. The A330 aircraft is designed with a spacious cabin, greater leg-room, lie-flat beds in premiere,” said, Jayaraj Shanmugam, Chief Commercial Officer, Jet Airways. The rolling out of the wide body aircraft with its two-cabin configuration of 18 seats in premiere (business) and 236 in economy class will also increase capacity on the key routes by as much as 50 per cent. Air India offers incentives for corporate travel


Air India reiterated their support for the MICE segment and informed that as part of Star Alliance, the Corporate Plus program is offered to organisations where business travel takes place on a regular basis. The program aims to simplify logistics, save both money and administration time. The information was imparted by Pankaj Srivastava, Director – Commercial, Air India, in response to a question at the PATA India Chapter and Ministry of Tourism’s Update and Outlook meeting. Srivastava elaborated, “We have always been very supportive of the MICE segment and have rolled out several corporate services and incentives. Ever since we started flying to Vienna in April 2016, we have already done about two weddings and five conferences. MICE is an important sector for us since a major part of travel is for business and we will continue to extend our support for it.”
