Vistara’s daily direct service to Amritsar now


Vistara inaugurated its daily direct service to Amritsar from Delhi, making it the fifth destination in northern India on its network. Vistara will commence operations between Amritsar and Mumbai with daily direct flights, starting March 8, 2017, which would make it the only full service airline to connect the two cities. Prakash Singh Badal, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Punjab, said, “Introduction of the new flights from Amritsar to Delhi by Vistara will definitely help not only the people of the state, but all countrymen who travel within the country and overseas. Ethiopian Airlines symposium on aviation training from April 11-13


Ethiopian Airlines has announced that it will host the ICAO Global Aviation Training and TRAINAIR PLUS Symposium with the theme: “Together, Enhancing Training to Build Capacity” at the seat of the African Union, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from April 11-13, 2017. Tewolde GebreMariam, Group CEO Ethiopian Airlines, said: “I believe this symposium will also be an opportunity for us to showcase our hospitality, the state-of-the-art aviation training facilities at our Aviation Academy and the key role Ethiopian is playing in the development of the African Aviation industry.” An estimated 400-500 expected participants will be taking part in the symposium, including the ICAO council President and the Secretary General, transport ministers, ambassadors, civil aviation and airport authorities, civil aviation officials, aircraft manufacturers, airline and airport operators, industry policy makers, and tourism experts.

Vistara’s direct flights now between Kolkata-Pune, and Delhi-Port Blair


Vistara has announced the launch of direct flights to two new routes starting March 26, 2017, between Kolkata and Pune, and starting April 15, 2017, between Delhi and Port Blair (Andamans) on Saturdays and Sundays during the upcoming summer season. These new flights are in addition to Vistara’s recently announced service to Amritsar from both Delhi and Mumbai, and to Leh (Ladakh) from Delhi, both starting in March.

Tourist on e-visa to get free SIM cards


Welcome kits with pre-loaded SIM cards have been launched by Dr. Mahesh Sharma, Minister of State for Tourism & Culture, Govt. of India, in collaboration with BSNL and Telco for the benefit of foreign tourists visiting the country. “We are glad to be launching this initiative and hope it is a success. Our aim is to make the tourists’ stay in India a good one and their safety and security is our utmost concern. Hence, the sim cards have been preloaded with about Rs. 50 talktime and 50mb data so that they can connect with their loved ones after landing in India,” Sharma said. The kit is currently available at T3, Indira Gandhi International Airport and will subsequently be rolled out to 15 other airports where e-visa facility is accepted. Tourists can avail the free sim card from the Bureau of Immigration at the airport after filling out an information form.

Singapore Airlines 4th weekly flight to take off from Ahmedabad from March 26


Singapore Airlines announced the launch of its fourth weekly flight from Ahmedabad to Singapore, starting March 26, 2017. All flights will be operated by the Airbus A330-300 wide-body aircraft. David Lim, General Manager India, Singapore Airlines, commented, “The new service will provide travellers a much sought after weekend departure window, to travel to Singapore and to onward destinations.” Furthermore, travellers from India can redeem a complimentary S$20 Changi Dollar Voucher for use at all participating shops, restaurants and lounges when they transit at Singapore Changi Airport. Indian nationals can also avail of one-way, Visa Free Transit Facility for up to 96 hours in Singapore with a valid onward ticket and a valid visa from selected countries. The transit facility will be provided at the discretion of the immigration authorities.

Qatar Airways to unveil new Business Class seat at ITB Berlin 2017


Qatar Airways is set to reveal the evolution to its multiple award-winning Business Class product at ITB Berlin exhibition, to be held from March 8-12, 2017. Zoom Air launches Delhi to Durgapur flight


Zoom Air became the 10th scheduled carrier in India with its inaugural flight from Delhi to Durgapur. It is the only airline that flies to Durgapur. The daily operations will ply on the Delhi-Kolkata-Durgapur sector. The service would further be extended to Amritsar in the afternoon followed by an evening service between Delhi-Surat-Bhavnagar-Delhi. The CRG 200LR aircraft is 50 seater with 2X2 complete premium economy seater.

Lufthansa’s A350-900 touches down in Delhi, greeted with fervour


Lufthansa started its commercial services of the A350-900 on its Munich (MUC) to Delhi (DEL) route which landed in Delhi on February 11 from Munich. The arrival was greeted with the celebratory water canon salute at Indira Gandhi International Airport. Delhi became the first destination worldwide to welcome Lufthansa’s most modern and environmentally friendly long-haul aircraft, the A350-900. “The launch of Lufthansa A350 services in Delhi marks an important milestone in our growing partnership with India.
