Singapore Global Convention from Dec 14-15

Institute Of Directors (IOD), India is organising its first ever Singapore Global Convention from December 14- 15, 2017 , at Hotel InterContinental, Singapore. Themed ‘Building an Ethical & Risk Resilient Enterprise’, the convention expects participation of over 15 countries. Singapore is among India’s largest trade and investment partner in ASEAN. It is the second largest investor in India. To strengthen the business opportunities between India and Singapore, IOD India is also organising a Global Business Meet during the convention. The objectives of the convention are to encourage the growth and development of risk resilient enterprises in the face of unprecedented risks such as financial, cyber frauds, environmental and the challenge of sustainable growth that organisations face today. Air India to fly non-stop from Birmingham to Amritsar

Air India plans to introduce two non-stop flights per week to Amritsar from Birmingham Airport. This new route to Amritsar, home to the Golden Temple, will be served twice a week direct from Birmingham Airport, the only UK airport to operate non-stop services on this route. The Boeing 787-8 series aircraft has 256 seats in a split cabin, consisting of 18 business class and 238 economy seats. Pankaj Srivastava, Director – Commercial and Board Member of Air India said:, “We are delighted that we are able to announce that we are planning to commence non-stop services between Birmingham and Amritsar twice a week, starting early 2018, recognising the consumer demand from the Midlands’ region to Amritsar, Punjab.  Air India is always very sensitive to the needs of the consumer and is pleased to be connecting the two cities thereby adding a new city pairing for Air India’s expanding global network with the only non-stop UK Amritsar service.” William Pearson, Aviation Director, says, “It is great news that we will have non-stop connections to two Indian cities.  With over 200,000 British-Indian people who travel to India to visit friends and relatives, and for tourism and business interests, this additional destination shows the large demand within the region for non-stop Amritsar services from the Midlands.  Air India has been a successful partner for over four years and offers great connections to India with services operated by the new Boeing 787-8 ‘Dreamliner’ aircraft.” Andy Street, Mayor of the West Midlands, said: “One of the most common issues raised when I talk to the Sikh community in our region is that they and their families are unable to fly direct to Amritsar. Air Deccan to connect the North East via Udan

Air Deccan is all set to start flight operations under the regional connectivity scheme, also known as Udan (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik), from December 15 this year, informed Shillong airport officials. Air Deccan will use Shillong as a hub and Udan flights from there will connect to other destinations in the northeast such as Agartala, Aizawl and Imphal, according to a top official of the Shillong airport. The airline will also operate flights between Kolkata and Agartala. Under the government’s Udan regional connectivity scheme, air fares are capped at Rs 2,500 per person for an hour’s flight to Tier-II and Tier-III cities in which the government will provide subsidy for flying with such low fares. “Air Deccan authorities have given the schedule saying that they would start operating from December 15 this year,” said M.K. Nayak, Director, Shillong airport. Air Deccan will use an 18-20 seater aircraft for the Udan flights, he added.

ICCA sees conglomeration of 1264 meeting experts

The 56th Congress of the International Congress and Convention Association – ICCA, held from Novemeber 12-15, in Prague, witnessed a total of 1,264 meeting industry experts from 79 countries. The event was organised by the Prague Convention Bureau with the support of more than 40 local partners. “According to the results of the impact study prepared for us by KPMG, multiplied revenues from the Prague congress industry were between 22 and 26 billion Czech Crowns in 2016. We expect that 15-25 association congresses or conferences could take place in Prague in the span of the next ten years as a result of the 56th ICCA Congress, generating a revenue of 2.1 billion Crowns in multiplication. Of course, this number may be far from final,” said Roman Muška, Director of the Prague Convention Bureau.

Dubai to host ICCA in 2018

Dubai will host the 57th Congress of the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) next year from November 11-14, 2018, at Dubai World Trade Centre. This year’s edition recently concluded in Prague. Dubai was chosen host city for the 57th ICCA Congress in 2014. The bid for the event was led by Dubai Business Events and Dubai World Trade Centre. The congress will see meeting industry professionals from all over the world gather in Dubai to discuss key challenges and opportunities within the business events industry.
