Air India to launch Delhi-Tel Aviv flight with 750,000 euro grant from Israel

Air India

Air India will get a one-time grant of 750,000 euros from Israel for launching direct flights between New Delhi and Tel Aviv, likely to be rolled out next month. “The conditions of the directive includes a grant of 250,000 euro per weekly flight, up to a total of three weekly flights. It is a one-time grant for an airline opening a new direct route into Tel Aviv (TLV) from a destination that has potential for incoming tourism,” said Lydia Weitzman, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Tourism. Informed sources said that the Indian flag carrier could start its direct flights into Israel from New Delhi on March 20, flying thrice a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Dubbed a game changer in Israel’s efforts to promote inbound tourism from India, Air India’s direct flight between New Delhi and Tel Aviv would be operating on the shortest route and is expected to bring down significantly the cost of travel between the two countries. “The number of tourists from China to Israel doubled in one year after the start of direct flight by Hainan Airlines. We expect something similar with India,” said Amir Halevi, Director General, Ministry of Tourism, Israel.   Source: PTI

Thailand Convention and Exhibitions Bureau (TCEB) conducted its TCEB Business Forum in Delhi at The Park Hotel on February 8, 2018. The forum aimed at strengthening exhibition ties with India. In his welcome address, Tharadol Thongruang, Minister Counselor (Commercial), Royal Thai Embassy – New Delhi, stated that they were eager to promote ties as well as business with India. He also said that Thailand is the centre and gateway to ASEAN. The ‘Exhibiz in Market’ scheme is a funding initiative conceived to generate pavilions at international tradeshows in Thailand, offering financial assistance between $1500 and $ 5,780 for leaders of commercial pavilions between 36 sqm and 250 sqm in size. Together with this scheme and The Connect Business promotion, TCEB hopes to further assist and facilitate the demands of international trade show exhibitors and visitors looking to build their business in ASEAN. Chanida Chengpee, Manager, Exhibition Department, TCEB, said, “The Connect Business matchmaking promotion is TCEB’s innovative approach to generating a higher quality of visitors to Thailand, increasing the likelihood of presenting exhibitors with enriched lead potential. Sports Events 365 launches intelligence service for hotels and airlines

Sports

Sports Events 365, the provider of database and tickets for sports and music events worldwide, which actively targets the global travel market, is launching a new B2B pricing support intelligence service. The new service, specifically designed for hotels and airlines, enables them to optimise the price they charge for rooms or flights, based on information of upcoming sporting events. The company will introduce the B2B intelligence service at the Travel Technology Europe exhibition that will take place at Olympia, London, on February 21-22, 2018. The information is geared for revenue managers of hotels in Western Europe and North America, and airlines flying to those destinations where sport tourism is one of the fastest growing segments of the travel industry. “Once they learn to use the information in our database and implement it, they benefit twice. Hotels and flights everywhere are online these days and it is hard to shine. Sports tickets are much harder to find, so if you sell a room with an entrance ticket to a sporting event, for example, you have a better chance to stand out. You will also have fewer cancellations and will offer something quite special while not having to settle for lower pricing for your own basic product,” says Sefi Donner, Founder and CEO, Sports Events 365.

MoCA looking at 20-min benchmark for immigration

moca

Addressing a gathering at CAPA Conference in Mumbai via a video link last week, Jayant Sinha, Minister of State for Civil Aviation, said that the ministry is looking at a benchmark of 20 minutes for passengers at immigration. Speaking about the steps taken at the Delhi airport in response to the recent spike in international travel, he said, “We recently saw a dramatic spike of 30 per cent in international travel in the winter schedule, particularly at the Delhi airport. Mumbai did not grow as much due to slot constraints. But these are two airports where we are facing some congestion. In response to that, we along with the Ministry of Home Affairs acted swiftly by massively increasing capacity for immigration officers as well as immigration counters at the Delhi airport. In Mumbai however we are much more constrained even though we have added capacity, although it is not at the same level as Delhi. We are thankful to Ministry of Home Affairs for acting so swiftly. Our benchmark as far as immigration is concerned is 20 minutes. If anyone has to wait more than that, then we are not doing our job well.”
